Here he is, as promised. An emperor's custode painted by the end of the labor day weekend. I decided to do a little extra converting after I posted the last pic. Minor stuff mostly. BigRed gave me some imperial eagle brass etchings, so I placed one on the blank shoulderpads and a very small one on the helmet. I also did some changes to the backpack (new vents) and built up a new base.
The base was much easier to make than it looks. Cut some 1mm thick plasticard into rectangles. Sand down the corners and all the edges. Then take your small round file and make the edges uneven. A base coat and a few coats of dry brushing, then fill the cracks with some flock.
I should be getting in a bits order from BattleForge Games in the next week or two. After that, I can convert the other four custodes. I can't wait to post some pictures of all five of them together. It should look like a very nice squad.

Very nice, very nice indeed.
Here's a stupid question...I couldn't find the bits link on that site...any help?
Battleforge is our local game store. I ordered the sprues in person. I'm sure you could call them and see if they would ship to you, however, most local stores that sell GW products can order sprues dirctly from GW. You can also go to the Games-workshop online store and place orders directly. Here is the linke to the High Elf Spearmen sprue I used. http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=Individual&code=99120210003&orignav=300988&ParentID=213531&GameNav=13&ItemNav=301595
If you are looking for individual bits, and not a full sprue, I think the warstore (http://www.thewarstore.net/) has picked up where battlewagon bits left off.
I am glad to see you used the big base. Are you not going to give them full robes?

Just a question... how did you build up the vents?
