PLAY-AID: Reaver Titan rules from BoLS

Hi guys,

If you are like me, you have taken a look at the Apocalypse book and said: "Hey, where's the reaver?"

In my case it's especially irritating as I'm in the middle of a campaign and I own 2 of the things. Well we know that Forgeworld is making a Reaver, but who knows how many months off that will be. In the meantime, to get you by here is a Reaver ruleset the Fly Lords cooked up using the known Titans (Warhounds, and Warlords), our old Epic-scale experience, and some remedial game-design.

I hope all you proud Reaver-titan owners have some fun with these. Enjoy

Looks great! Though you might wanna do something about the option of mounting an Inferno Gun on the carapace, since right now it can't fire at all (the template must be placed within 18", but it's not allowed to fire within 24" since it's mounted on the carapace.)

damnit BoLS! now i feel obliged to use these rules! bah.

really, these rules are put together very well. when i VDR my reaver, it comes up to 2300 points, so maybe its a lil overpowered.

thanks.

oops,

I'll get rid of that carapace inferno gun option ASAP...

Good catch!

It's nitpicking time! ;)

3. the branch of an army that procures, stores, and issues, weapons, munitions, and combat vehicles and maintains arsenals for their development and testing.

I notice that your Vulcan Mega Bolter does not rend. Is this intentional, or an oversight? My copy of Apoc is not here yet, so I cannot compare it to the book to see what its like there.

Yea, Dave, a "little" over powered :) Vaporising a unit of choice every turn then firing twice more... I vote we use these rules too.
That and no more "titans ignore terrain." I am sore enough from the plague marines; I don't need more of that! :)

I love you guys. You are always keeping me honest.

All errors corrected and a new version is up.

im about to test out these rules against 1500 points of space wolves, ill let you know how it pans out.

Volvano cannon should be an option on a Reaver. I converted one of my own, others with an armorcast shadowsword will be able to do the same.

Gatling blaster is another from Epic.

1500 Points are about perfect considering the 750pt warhound and 2500pts Warlord.

Great work BoLS! These Apocalypse datasheets for Armorcast models will be really usefull for a lot of us. Thanks a lot!

On a side note, I also agree with Anonymous (October 9, 2007 3:07PM Post). It would be nice to have the Volcano Cannon listed as carapace-only weapon (as per Codex Titanicus published in the good old days), maybe at some extra point cost. I too have one of my three Armorcast Reavers converted with a carapace-mounted Volcano Cannon.

The Vortex missile was usable in epic by reavers, iirc.

With the reaver being a smaller titan than the warlord, shouldn't the mass destruction be 5d6 and minimum range be 18 inches?

Now I need to unpack my old Space Marine/Epic Rules.

Any chance you have ideas for an Imperator?

True. Based on Codex Titanicus (original Epic rules) the Vortex missile is also usable by "Goth" Reavers as carapace weapon. The "Hun" variant has no carapace weapon.

As for the strength, again based on Codex Titanicus, the "Goth" Reaver has a Grade 3 carapace Hard Point, so does the "Death Bringer" Warlord. Only the "Nemesis" Warlord has Grade 4 Hard Points.

Thus, as per those rules, the firepower of the Reaver Vortex missile should be 3/4 of the "Nemesis" Warlord one.

Unfortunately, my original Epic knowledge is limited, so I cannot really comment more. I only have a copy of the Codex Titanicus rules. I am missing the original Adeptus Titanicus rules. Any idea where I could find an e-copy?
