The top three Ard Boyz prizes.
The very large "life sized" thunder hammer.
Extra blister packs for people who didn't win anything else. They were picked over pretty quickly.
GW staffers doing their best Teamsters impersonation (yes, its a little blurry)
This was an interesting piece of terrain. It's a very large section of trees. The top part with all the leaves actually lifts off and you can place models inside. There is enough room in there to fit a landraider or two.
Here is my deployment for the first mission. As you can see, he had no ordinance.
This player has more actual drop pod models than I have ever seen in one place.
That's it for Day 0. I'll post more when it happens.

Take a look at the shot of that table beneath the big tree terrain.
That table has 1 - count 'em - 1 piece of terrain in the centre of the table, and the rest of the table is virtually empty.
How does anyone play 40K on open battlefields???
I guess the two tree stands, two buildings, and the hill in the corner were allies then.
They were letting people rearrange the terrain.
wow... just wow...
The guy with all the drop pods is Jeff Florido of Adeptus Windy City/Adepticon fame.
It's weird seeing terrain that you've played on getting used for a GT.
I'm really impressed with the "trophies" too. Life sized 40k weapons with plaques on them!
So what's up with the unpainted miniatures being used on the table with the drop pods, some of which are also unpainted?
this tournament was a special exception. there were no painting scores, and armied did not have to be painted, nor fully assembled ( as you can see from the land raider being held together by rubber bands.
as far as i can tell the terrain layout is complete and utter garbage. i use more terrain than that in apocalypse....
and using unpainted models to try to win a tournament of this caliber is crazy. where the f do the get this stuff?
glad u guys had fun! i wish i was there.
the Tournament organizers said "you dont have to field painted models"
so blame GW, not the players
Kevin, that's actually Jeff Chua. Jeff Florido is also a Chicago player, but he's a Fantasy guy.
Interesting that GW has a piece of forest terrain that lifts the roof off of to place miniatures inside.
I was at a Little Wars convention back in 2003 and a GW representative was in attendence covering I guess some kind of tournament. He stopped and commented how cool it was that my brother and I's table had forests with roofs that lifted off to place troops inside.
That table with the enormous tree template WAS an Apocolypse table. They set up three games of Apoc as a free event around 5pm Friday night.
Overall the GT tables had a ton of terrain. Much more than in years past. Possibly even TOO much, as it was to the point that my one Tyranid opponent had basically his entire army in cover turn one.
The guy who won third place is actually from the GW shop I go to here in Colorado, so it's pretty cool to see that he did so well, especially knowing his list. The bolter is pretty cool, actually.
