40K NEWS: Even More GW Apocalypse Datasheets

Hi everybody,

Today GW finally put up that set of 7 new Formation Datasheets for Apocalypse that they pulled down a couple of weeks back.

They include:

  • Terminator Titanhammer Squads
  • Predator Assassin Squadron
  • Chaos Annihilation Force
  • Plague of Zombies
  • Maelstrom of Gore
  • The Great Court of the Young King
  • The Seer Council of Ulthwe

-It looks like the trend of homages to lists and units lost to the mists of time continue. Apocalypse continues to add formations that use units from lists that have disappeared from the tournament circuit like LaTD plague zombies, and the Court of the Young King. I like where this is going.

While I am very intersted in the Plague of Zombies, I am a bit puzzled by the T2 and Feel No Pain combo. Kind of pointless, isnt it? I mean, 90% of the weapons in the game are S4+. Would only be useful versus an IG list. Should of been T3.

The zombies are made for close combat - so yes, they'll be shot down (that's what zombies do best!), but in CC, you'll need rending or power weapons.

\mm/ for Maelstrom of Gore (again)

Aye the T2 zombies seems like a bonehead move to me. Given the "friendly" nature of APOC games I'd just allow people fielding zombies to make them T3, maybe with a point increase or something. I haven't checked the (zombically) returned sheets again, but I remember them being WAY cheap for all their special abilities.

Are these sheets different than the ones that they pulled down?

sadly no mike, they made us wait weeks for the same stuff again >_<

Wait, won't Str4 melee attacks also negate Feel No Pain? Or is only shooting attacks? It seems to me that just about anything other than IG and Sisters can butcher the things with no effect from FNP. Of course, the things are a dime a dozen, so perhaps it is no big deal.

Only attacks that ignore armor saves skip FNP in close combat.

Well, if that's the case, then zombies are one of the games best tarpits, and can actually do something against MEQs with poisoned attacks.

BRAINS!

Ah, well that is kinda cool then. Die to guns but killers up close. Dig it, and been wanting to amass zombic hordes ...........

Uh, hate to say it, but rules for Feel No Pain don't rule out CC attacks that cause Instant Death from the rules, so everything with strength 4 gets to utterly destroy them. Then again, it makes sense fluff-wise to me that Space Marines and the like do go through zombies like mad and it's just the sheer number of the things that threatens them. Given that Strength 3 CC = IG, Sisters, Orks not on the charge, Tau, the majority of Eldar, and even a lot of the little gribblies of Tyranids if they aren't modified, zombies still get Feel No Pain against a lot of foes in CC, and certainly against most things that can match their numbers.

Well, even if you insta-kill them, they still can get back up on a 6, with your dead. I still find the idea of fighting them unpleasant.

these are all pretty lame

very constructive critisism from the anon above me. i think some of these are great, like the seer council and the khorne one. i doubt i could field any of these except for the serr council, which is strangly calling me.

yeah i agree with dave...i mean these are free after all. and yes, the thought of 36 inch range mind war or 48 inch doom makes me drool. Besides i inherited 3 farseers from a friend and already had one so i feel as if i should complete the council anyways. Gives some nice assets as well

I stand corrected. But even so, I would _love_ to play against a Nurgle army that threw out hordes of the zombies.

The Zombie's Feel No Pain is worse than a 4+ save which they used to have in LatD book. But who cares really... Apoc seems to be dominated by the big stuff so I would love to see someone throw down 500pts on Zombies in a 3000pt game... Baneblade or Zombies... tough choice!

Heh. Throw down 500pts of Zombies? I would like to see someone paint 500 pts of Zombies? Hmm...paint 100 Zombies or paint 1 Baneblade? Easy choice. :P

Yes Zombies get FNP in CC even if its a S4 enemy you need a range weapon to stop their FNP roll. Just read and reread the rule

i use plauge zoms in appoc and true is easier to paint 1 banblade but not as much rewarding when you see your opponents face when they see then such as the appoc games i played last week and unleashed 400 plauge zoms led by tythus and a few champs of nurgle useing flank march into the rear of a mass guard infintry army true to form the guard got swammped and ended the game with the comand squad and a couple of dwindeling guard sqards fighting mobs of zombies wile i piled over 100 into the assult terminaters that had teliported down if only i had a picture imagine 10 assult terminators totaly sarrounded by zombies hacking dozens down just for more to take there place now that is a last stand of heoroes

game was brillint dispite me swarming the diffences of the guard the rest of the team were'nt so lucky and the game ended a draw we'll never know if the terminators managed to fight there way out alive
