Hi guys,
Here is your weekend roundup:
Forgeworld
The modular Baneblade kits are available for order. The following kits can be had for £85.00 apiece and include the basic Baneblade parts on top of the resin upgrade pieces.
- Shadowsword
- Stormblade
- Stormsword
Word is that GW has now handed info down to the retail stores confirming that 5th is coming this year (summer or fall). This along with the confirmation of the leaked document originating from GW seems to cinch it up folks. 5th is on the way.
Planetstrike
There is yet more word on Plastic IG Stormtroopers (with both lasgun and shotgun options) coming out with this 40k supplement. We've been hearing of this plastic kit since last year, and here it is again. Some are saying that it may tie into a new IG codex possibly coming on the heels of 5th Edition, but we have no corroborating info on that as of now.
2008 Overview
So far the rumors seem to point to this on the 40k release side:
- Codex Orks
- Codex Daemons
- 5th Edition (order may be switched with Planetstrike)
- Planetstrike
- Possibly another codex (IG, Dark Eldar being the most commonly mentioned as candidates)

I believe all those rumors, except the release schedule at the end. There is no way GW is going to release a codex for Orks in 2008 ;)
Oh God, let it be Codex: Inquisition after 5th edition and that expansion.
Is it just me or are GW churning an awful lot of stuff out at the moment? Maybe its that CAD design is a lot faster than traditional sculpting?
I dont know that CAD is faster - I think it might be that its either freeing up more resources or its inspiring people. Maybe the freedom of the CAD process is getting them to think bigger or they just have a huge backlog of material thats getting editted and sent out the door...
Oh god, shotgun guard. 'nid players worldwide will cower before the onslaught of Aliens quotes... well, one Aliens quote, constantly repeated.
Shouldent that be Hellgun and Shotgun, rather then lasgun, as Storm troopers cannont get lasguns?
Because we all know lasguns and hellguns are sooooooooo different....
Whilst I'd like to see a Dark Eldar or Imperial Guard codex, isn't it more likely that GW will release a new Space Marine Codex? It makes the most sense for their sales after all. It would also take the least amount of effort as they only have to release a new mini or two, and update the trait system into something that isn't broken...
Stormtroopers? Plastic you say? Should be interesting.
I'd much rather see a new IG Codex with the rumored plastic great coats so I can resume my beloved Valhallans.
"Shouldent that be Hellgun and Shotgun, rather then lasgun, as Storm troopers cannont get lasguns?"
With the new codex on the way, who knows what weapons will be available to stormtroopers.
Interesting that the plastic stormtroopers might be part of Planetstrike. I've heard that Space Wolves will be "featured prominently" in Planetstrike. I took it with a grain of salt, but now I wonder. If Stormtroopers are true, and I've heard about plastic drop pods, maybe there's a kernel of truth to having some Space Wolves stuff as well. Anyone else here any similar rumblings?
i'd love a new imp guard codex, but i doubt that'll be anytime soon. other than the tau, their's was the last one released for 3rd ed, and it seems to be pretty solid.
The last thing i want to see is another space marine codex. While it would be nice to get all my guys equiped with nades and pistols standard, i'd hate to lose the options such as the variable # of men in a squad and the sgts access to the armory.
Being "featured prominently" for Space Wolves in Planetstrike may be nothing more than a bunch of pictures. One might say that Ultramarines and Orks were "featured prominently" in Apocalypse, based on the color plates. So I'm hopeful about a Space Wolves 'dex, but realistically a Space Marines rewrite probably has to come first. But doesn't necessarily have to be released first.
