Hi guys,
As the countdown continues I thought you would like to take a look at some of the non-guard players in the BoLS Campaign book. You didn't think all the fun and games was limited to only IG players did you?
Here we have 2 background pages on forces met in different parts of the Macharian Crusade; the determined Eldar of Il-Kaithe Craftworld, and the unhinged Astartes of the Crimson Guard. Of course both of these forces have their own special rules, Independent Characters and much, much more, but I want to just whet your appetite for now, and give you a glimpse of what's coming.

~As usual, comments and feedback are always appreciated, and you can see a pic of Il-Kaithe in action here.

looks like you guys put a lot of effort into this. Cants wait!
Please change the vessel of the crimson guard from strike cruiser to battle barge.
The strike cruiser fluff wise it's too small to carry more than 1 company of SMs. Based on battlefleet gothic fluff of course.
And it carries two (apox 200 SM) and too much vehicles. Also Thunderhawks gunships are always present in sm fleets (apox. 3 for every strike cruiser, 9 for battle barges).
very cool sir. Beating workshop at its own game! I love seeing this kind of effort in the fan community between people in a close knit group who then share their work. Thanks guys!
@ borin
The crimson guard at this point are supposed to be the last remnants of a chapter decimated by orcs.
Wouldn't make any sense for them to have a battle barge; capitol ships would have been with the main fleet when it was destroyed.
Ideally, of course, SM's always like to have battle barges and thunderhawks and etc, but when your whole base and army gets blown up you have to make due with what you can find.
Wow. The Crimson Guard are damn cool! I want to paint some up!
Oh, and I see you like graphic images. ;)
"Il-Kaithe armies struck war and wide across the Segmentum"
Excellent work, really looking forward to this. You guys need a good copy editor, still fewer typos than GW!
Completely awesome. Love the fluff on the Crimson Guard.
Please... oh please... a release date. Even approximate... to a few hours more or less! I'm as much looking forward to this as to the 5th edition!
Phil
We should have it all finalized and ready for release on .. <-*+- transmission terminated by order of the Inquisition -+*->
What? The celebrated arch-maniac of calvera county? Sounds like a Mark Twaaaaagh!
Looks great guys, can't wait.
This is kind of cool. I haven't really looked too much into this but I just noticed that the Eldar craftworld that is in this one is the craft world that I choose for my colors. I might have to work hard to get everything ready to try it out.
This gonna be a really huge thing, ha? Man, can't wait for it!
The problem it's that a stike cruiser isn't big enought for all the troop listed. And it's very unlikely that SM would half the astartes and vehicles in civilian transports.
Also SM vessels are always acompanied by Thunderhawks as it's the main form of troop and vehicle deployment.
I only say that fluff wise it's imposible for a strike cruiser carry that much troops and vehicles.
@borin
Well, when you have 200 marines and only bunks for 100 you can eaither say, "sorry folks, half you have to stay here" or "ok lads, time to double bunk"
When your only options is a bad option, you still have to take it.
I just had to add how cool it is that you have a chapter of SM that were essentially pirates! that is just awesome! Like everyone else I can't wait to play it out with our local gaming group. This will be very fun with the "slanesshi-ness," of 5th ed. (pain mixed with pleasure)
I must have missed the fluff where Space Marine genetic coding only allowed them entry into Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges.
It might not be ideal to have them in civilian transports and the escorts, but when push comes to shove I'm sure they'd use them.
PLEASE make one of the crimson characters the head apothecary! A sort of loyalist Fabius Bile would be so sick. Plus, there has never been an apothecary special character, and I think it would be like hot on awesome.
@james - Copy editing hasn't been done; everything in the book is first typing pass as of now.
We're working on the battle progression right now, and reviewing special abilities and wargear based on what we've seen of 5th Edition.
Charlie, have no fear.
Crimson Guard Chief Apothecary Lo-Can is indeed one of the special characters included (as well as the unhinged Master Kree).
Of course there has been a special apothecary character - Corbulo of the Blood Angels!
Excellent work once again guys. I already have a pre-heresy Blood Angels force (WH30000) and can't wait to make an army up for this campaign too.
Spotted one typo - 'war' should be 'far' for far and wide.
We just started the first pass of copy editing for the fluff section. I think I've already corrected about 1,100 spelling and gramatical errors. I've just started a pass for further "grammer sintax, and frazing".
"Luckily" I have 8 hours of flying to do tomorrow!
Bigred, Mkerr, looks sweet! I'm pretty excited about shooting marines, especially ones so brightly colored!
Also, the fluff/narrative at the bottom of the pages is a nice touch.
Fluff is very cool, looking forward to seeing how they work in the campaign.
Nice to see the story behind those eldar.
shiny...
why do I keep picturing one of the aliens from ufo: enemy unknown when looking at that eldar colour scheme?
wow those pages look amazing! is there a template anywhere?
i'd love to do a mini-codex for my marines and army lists!
Keep up the great work!
Rob
