Hi everyone,
I think this is a great time to formally announce the winners from our Create a IG Regiment Challenge. Below you will find 2 sample pages from the Macharian Crusade campaign book. The first is a rundown of our winners! Take a look at that page and give it up for your fellow BoLS readers who threw down the conversion gauntlet and came up on top! CONGRATULATIONS!
Secondly, I think its time to give some love to all of you xenos/heretic players who want in on the Macharian action but don't have an IG army. Never fear, because this time around, there is a lot of cool information and ICs for all you bad guys. Is there anything more fun than playing a nefarious scheming villian? Of course their is; playing a nefarious scheming 40k villian!

~Enjoy the ICs, and consider this an open thread so have at it guys. Remember no chairs! Oh, I almost forgot... You can expect the Macharian Crusade to be out hot on the heels of 5th edition, in July. It's almost time folks!

Reinecke! Thank goodness.
Well, four of the five I voted for got in, so i feel good on the inside... seriously, congrats to all the winners, you all deserved it.
Looking at these pages one can just see how much love is being put into this project. =)
BTW, the spelling of "feudal" needs to be corrected. =)
Very nice characters! Only shouldn't Sorge have frag/krak grenades too? Since they seem to be coming standard with every Marine now... And that Archon is a beast. Agoniser and poisoned blades, 3+ regular save and 2++ shadowfield save. Then again, he does cost an appropriate number of points, but I suspect he could come out on top against many other characters of similar points cost.
Eternal Warrior on the Alpha Legion guy. Nice.
And a fleeting Incubi? Not something I'd want to face.
there are lots of chairs at BFG... i will use them in person tomorrow.

Great work as usually! I very Happy about seeing some Love for DE. That Archon ist very sweet! Inccubiarmour should be a usual Upgrade for an Archon. And nice weapon choice, I sometimes take that kind;-)
@kris: A DE Archon is allways aBeast and he usually comesout on top against nearly every charackter;-)
please ceep up the great work!
just a few minor corrections:
the "special weapon squads" doctrine for the slaves of... has two "dots" in the margin
the special ability for the dark eldar character has through spelt thru in "move through cover"
great stuff, really looking forward to this
Eternal warrior is so nasty, i think it kinda makes that guy OP.
I have no quarrals with anything else though.
I like my chaos marines intelligent, not raving madmen.
Congratulatiosn to the winners!
And I love the book, I can´t wait to see the whole thing. *thumbsup*
Isn't Eternal Warrior generally reserved for daemon princes?
I mean, yeah, abby has it too, but thats not really an exception - he's about as close to being a daemon prince as any human sized model could hope for.
Looking good guys, congrats to the winners - they're all well deserved, with some great looking paint jobs and conversions.
Also, I'm liking the Special Characters. Second kris' comment about frag/krak. I do think the points costs may be a touch low for both - they've got special rules which benefit their whole army, which may justify another 10-20 pts IMO.
Thanks for including an Archon, as a DE player it's nice to see someone putting some time into them! Only thing though, Agoniser and PBs can't be combined at the same time in cc. Maybe he could have a splinter pistol as well, or a Tormentor Helm would fit with the Incubi armour. Or did you intentionally not give him the second ccw as he's got 5A on the statline already? ;)
Oh, also it would be helpful if you made clear whether the Archon can take a retinue as normal. I assume he can but it'd be helpful. If this is already included in the full book then ignore me!
Oh and BTW (sorry for double post, this just occurred to me) why have you gone with 2000 pt army limit on the SCs? GW is moving away from this mechanic. I gather that in the States 1750-2000 pt games are the norm, but in the clubs I play at in the UK, 1500 is the normal list size, meaning we can't use all the cool stuff you've come up with. Grrr.
@teleologica - all 2000 points means is posting a notice for your club saying "Oh year, Bell of Lost Souls put out a campaign book so make sure you have models for 2000 points"
@Teleologica:
Having both poisoned blades and an agonizer gives you the choice of which rule to use. If you use the blades, you wound on a 2+ with the 5 base attacks. If you use the agonizer, you wound on a 4+, ignore armor, and you can count the poisoned blades as an additional ccw for the extra attack.
The poisoned blades are really kind of superfluous, but they could be useful in certain situations.
@ wiliam
you can't combine poisoned blades with a additional ccw to gain an extra attack.
and I don't think the archon should have fleet of foot because he's wearing incubi armour, incubi can't fleet and every eldar unit with a 3+ save can't fleet either..
@folkert
Only the regular units with a 3+ save can´t fleet, the autarch, the phoenix lords, and the exarchs may use fleet of foot, and the phoenix lords even have a 2+ save.
The Archon is sure to be wearing some sort of "mastercrafted" Incubus-armor that is superior to the armor of the Incubi, which may as well allow FoF.
But regarding the Incubi you´re right, with a retinue of Incubi he will not be able to use FoF, so maybe "Disciple of Ahra" should grant FoF to the unit he is leading too, although this may or may not be to much...
As usual, thanks for the feedback guys, I consider every suggestion.
I specifically stuck in the Archon because we wanted the Dark Eldar guys to get some love (how many years has it been?).
We are mere days away from wrapping the content, then its just proofreading and playtesting the scarry stuff.
Looks to be an awesome book. While I don't get a lot of games in, I look forward to reading it and following the progress of folks online who play it all the same.
Power Armour should be listed in Sorge's wargear section (see C:DA and C:CSM). Also there's a typo under Arcturian Aerotroopers at the very end (servic).
Really looking forward to read the finished product.
is there a particular reason that you've misspelt through in Vectux's profile.
i know this is the internet but we should have standards. otherwise what merrit to do we have to complain about GW's typos?
Personally, I don't like special rules that require a die roll to use. I'd rather see Sorge's points bumped up a little and Riddles within Riddles to be automatic. If it's too borken to be an automatic ability, then don't include it. Don't fall into the GW mindset that something is balanced just because you roll a die for it.
Not necessarily picking on you admiraldick, but it was the highpoint of my morning seeing the misspelling of "merit" in a post proclaiming us interweb heathens take the moral high-ground regarding grammatical errors. Good stuff.
Really liking the whole layout of the release. The contest winners (sincere congrats, by the by) look as if they were planned from the start. Looking forward to the release.
That chaos guy is way underpriced points-wise for the stats and rules and gear.
I really like the rules for the DE archon!
Hate to be "that guy", but the flavor quote for the Archon reads, "... but offer a special gift for the Dark Prince. How SHE thirsts!"
Emphasis mine.
Is that gender switch an oversight or is there some ambiguity in the fluff I could very well not know about?
Second guess:
the Dark Prince, Slaanesh, is androgynous, i.e. both male AND female, so the text is technically correct.
(the best kind of correct)
Slaanesh is fiddly like that - he/she is specifically described as being both genders and neither, at the same time.
not he or she: SHGLEE
regarding disciples of ahra, could it be that you mean A"R"HRA not Arha?
i know of arhra, but nothing called ahra...
just my 2 cents so please dont shoot me if i got it wrong^^.
No squats... hm...
But the concept of let the people vote ist so great...
3/5 with Iron Discipline?
I will be glad to see the back of Doctrines.
Sorge does seem to lack the improved formatting of the recent codices. I wonder why he favors the Lightning Claw over a more exotic Power Axe/Maul/Mace/Flail/Cat'O'Nine Tails?
I was also sad to see a 2000 point limit - can you please consider 1500 as a base points cost.
cause then he can't reroll to wound... If he doesn't have LC's
lol
BTW, very nice project, I can say that I was way more excited about the HH one you did, but that's cause I have a PH luna wolves army... All in all awesome work, keep it up, and thanks for letting us peons be involved in the process.

Please include rules for IG Landraiders and Rhinos!
I love that you put in the archon! It's always nice when Dark Eldar get some love :)
You know what's funny...
You sit for hours looking at stuff you wrote over and over, and it looks fine.
Then within 30 seconds of letting someone else take alook at it, all the errors come bubbling up at you. Its maddening.
I'll be sure to let someone ELSE do the first proofreading pass. :)
I knwo that feeling, you're so damn happy that you actually got ideas on paper that you become more or less oblivious to the pressence of typos and weird rule combination ;-)
Well many congrats to the winners, it was definitely worth the effort you guys put into your minis/rules/fluff!
On to the new characters, which can both be best described as...well....'characterful'. Which war could do without and Alpha Legion commander? One question though, why does he have eternal warrior? Something normally reserbed for a daemon prince, although I can imagine you used it to represent his cunny, sneaky nature.
Vectux is an absolute powerhouse, 5 attacks to start with and all that wargear will make him dangerous as hell. Although if he fully wants to make use of his wargear he'll have to stick with warrios instead of incubi as they can't fleet. Very interesting character though, I'd love to see him in action. And as said by other, superb to see some love for the Dark Eldar!

@ Big Red
You know... on the proof reading thing. That is a fantastic thing about PDF's, you can allways re-release them and edit them. You have a fanbase that is dedicated to helping and encouraging you to make your document better...
Do somthing GW seems in-capable of and use these people to put out a well-proof read document.
Good Job!
I like the way the document looks 'official'.
What are the fonts that you used for the PDF BigRed?
