OK, guys lets take a little break from the rumors on a slow day for a bit of BoLS community building. With the kickoff of our Macharian Crusade book, its Challenge Time! This challenge goes out to all of our intrepid modelers and 40k narrative gamers out there. Today I introduce the: Macharian Crusade IC Challenge!
Your goal is to flip through the Campaign book, talk to your fellow gamers and figure out who you would like to play. Pick an army that reallly fits in with your playstyle, your existing collection, or maybe you just love their background. You job is to submit to the BoLS email box (upper right column) the following:
- A high quality pic of a single converted and painted Macharian Crusade Independent Character against a white background
- A very brief rundown of the bitz used to convert your trooper.
After a week or two, we will post the top finalists BoLS receives and put up a poll for you, our dedicated readers to judge.
Here is an example to get your creative juices going...

~Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! Its only one Character to convert up and paint. Lets see your best stuff folks. As usual, comments are welcome, so let us know if you're in, what you're working on, and how its coming. I want folks to start thinking about how they can organize and play the Crusade among their friends, and selecting an army is the easiest starting point. We here in Austin are kicking off our Crusade in October, and would love to see as many of our readers gaming along with us, and sending in battle reports as we push back the borders of the Imperium during the Fall. p.s. I've also thrown up a poll to see which Crusade Armies or Xenos you guys think are the coolest. Have at it!

I went crazy nuts, and already have Vasili converted from the time I read the post, until right now. Now to sleep, and then to paint.

Sounds like an incentive to get 'ol Ackland finished promptly, lets see what can be done!
Does it have to be one of your independent characters, or can it be one of our own? Say can I make a Praetorian character other than Ackland? Or a Skulltaker?
All those special characters are easily my favorite part of the book, mad props throughout lads. And you've got my gears turning on a Crimson Guard holdfast swarm, headed up by Lo Can himself ...
On the poll, wow that's tough. 6th Army? Crimson Guard? 6th Army? Crimson Guard?

You can definately make up your own standard IG IC using the codex and the new pieces of wargear in the Doctrines and Wargear section.
Just make sure to tell us which army/force he is part of.
I assume it's no problem but I wanted to double check. Are the Xenos special characters welcome in this challenge?
Whats with not puttin Adrantis in the poll?
I'm dying for the moment when someone with an existing Tau army decides to "Adrantify" it for the campaign and paints a Necron Destroyer in Tau-Mustard-Yellow.

A Question about the poll. Is the Adrantis Union count as Xeno scum?

I was going to convert the Alpha Legion character until I realized that he had a lightning claw and a jumppack... that might be too much to scratch-build on short notice.
You guys just keep putting out more and more cool stuff, once more i'd be honoured to try my hand at this! Two quick questions: when is the exact deadline, this because my slight laziness led to me missing the deadline for the regiment contest (still thanks a bunch for putting my name in the thanksword;-) ). And secondly are multiple entries allowed as there are just so many different cool characters to choose from?

hey yeah, i begin the paint stuff tomorrow or so... it's gonna be Rogue Trader Matteas Wolf and i will change the look of the Scorpion's Claw to a much more archaic version if thats ok (phew i think that was pretty bad english..)
Been very busy with work so i have yet to decide and buy new bits. So I'll pick a character tomorrow and do wathever I can this weekend!
Tough to pick on of them though, as so many of them have great background. Though I'm pretty sure the 6th army will have a lott of different people's interest. An 'evil' goodguy always works ;-)
