Iron Snakes Logo Sheet

Did someone say Iron Snakes? You all asked (loudly) and you shall recieve.

I have been noting (again) that GW does a great job of covering the major 1st Founding and select 2nd Founding chapters with their decal sheets. However, there are a number of great looking 2nd and later founding chapters who get a good amount of back-story and have great alternative uniform colors that never have had decals produced for them. In the interest of promoting diversity in the Marine community and encouraging players to branch out beyond the "big 4", I keep knocking out logo sheets for some of these other chapters who I think look great and have no GW decal support.

The Iron Snakes have gotten a lot of GW attention in Dan Abnett's Brothers of the Snake, and Tactica Imperialis books from Black Library so here they are. Here is the link to the PDF file for the decal sheet you can freely pull down and use:

Download Here

The sheet is designed for printout on Decal printer paper which is easily available online. These decals are designed for the CLEAR decal paper. The procedure is as follows:

CLEAR PAPER: If you use the clear decals, the decals need to be applied to a light colored surface to be visible at all. The procedure for applying the "outline only" decals is to apply them to a white surface, and wait till they are fully dried. Then using the outlines as a guide, paint in the darker color around the decal if needed. It is odd, but gets the job done.

Click here for a detailed Custom Decal Tutorial

Size wise, the larger decals towards the top are best used for super heavies/terrain, and move down in size to the large array of Marine Shoulderpad towards the bottom.

In any case, enjoy and I wish you the best in using this set for your forces.

~Please feel free to leave comments if there is a special Chapter, Craftworld, or something else you would love to collect, but have no GW decal options, and I will see what I can do.

I Would be happy, if there were any Decal Sheets for my Howling Griffons, it's pretty hard to paint this Griffon on those Shoulderpads.

Legion of the Damned!

Might sound stupid, but its quite difficult for me to paint all the Bones etc. ^^

This sheet makes me a sad monkey... Do you have any idea how many of these I hand painted...

:-(

Wally Was Here.
(To make it up to me why dont you publish the M.Crusade book, and include rules for the IG having Rhinos and Land Raiders like they did in RT.)

Wally, I know just how you feel, but I'm very very happy about this and you should be too! since we wont have to paint the god damn snakes anymore, my marines number 100+ and tanks that's a lot of snakes, these transfers are gonna make my life much easier.

I love the decals that you guys have been doing, they help the community a lot :D

I'm just wondering though, would you continue to offer the custom decals if "official" decals were published for factions beyond the "big 4"?

We're not here to take business away from GW, so on a case by case basis we would pull logo sheets as GW made them available.

If you look over the first founding logo sheets you will notice that some legions who already have GW decal sheets available are missing.

Howling Griffons FTW!

And how about as well as chapter symbols, start adding some squad designation sheets too.

Much like the Raven Guard '+' for veterans and the like.

That would be nice!

no one said it so far, so I guess I will. They look like pretzels...

YAHOOO!!! I am building a Iron Snakes army as I read this post and this is great timing! Thank You Very Much for doing this!

Pre-Heresy Night Lords and Flesh Tearers would be nice to see.

That's what I thought too! It's a pretzel with a head and tail!

Brothers of the Snake really is an excellent book, I just finished it last week.

You guys should sell your own BoLS-brand decal paper!

How about some basic squad number decals? GW do "2", "3", "6" and "7" in white in a gothic script but no 1,4,5,8,9 or 10. What is the font they use? is it downloadable anywhere? I have made up some for my Angels of Vengeance by superimposing the GW decals, scanning them and changing the white to red and red to white but I still only have a limited number range.

Hmmm, some basic squad symbols and numbers could be a nice generic aid for lots of us.

As for the pre-heresy Night Lords; Their symbol did not change post heresy, so there are already GW provided decals for them on the Chaos sheet.

I second the "looks like pretzels" comment.

GW produces a Flesh Tearer raised shoulder pad, so I think it would be a grey area for the BoLS staff if they did. It's still available from Mail Order, IIRC.

I didn't know Auntie-Anne's was an officially recognized Sisters of Battle Coven?

For all the Howling Griffon requests, let me point out a minor note...

Their chapter logo is just a stock Heraldric Griffon, readily available from a variety of sources. Look around online for decals for historical gaming, and you will find some.

@Valhallan42nd:
Actually, the have removed it from the website...my buddy plays FT and he is very annoyed that only 1/2 of his forces have shoulder pads.

how about the Rainbow Warriors (Refferance rogue Trader rule book), or the White Panthers? Dunno i guess i just feel sentimental...

What decal paper do you all use?

I've tried some before, but the paper is too thick to curve around shoulder pads even with lots of Micro-Sol. Even on flat surfaces, the edge of the decal is noticeable.

RED SCORPIONS...I just can afford to buy tons of FW pads. :-(

I do not know how much time it costs you to create one such sheet with tiny chapter symbols but if you find the time...

RED SCORPIONS..please!

hawk lords would be nice :)
