I can't wait for this! the quality is great, especially for snap-fits and besides, I have both an Ork and Marine army! Talk about win-win

James C: for what? donating a choking hazard?

YOU ARE NEVER TO YOUNG TO DIE FOR THE EMPEROR! CHOKE FOR THE EMPEROR!

Azzy said...

Preorder? Maybe not. Get at least two of these once they come out? You betcha.

Nurglespuss said...

Pre-order? nah never do that, or fall for the instore 'put down a deposit' rubbish.

I'm still considering getting it as I'm on a budget, but don't know if I can cope with slightly re-detailed BFM marines....

LOL!! I pre-ordered two when my store started taking preorders like 2 weeks back!!

So stoked for this!!!

I have a 10k point army this is gonna go in it... and the orks are gonna go for my club army!!

YAYA!!

Want want want.

I don't think I'll pre-order it--I got the rulebook instead, and as I have a backlog of unpainted miniatures and this boxed set is going to be around for years I don't feel too much time pressure to do so...

I do think it's a great price for what you get, though. So I can see myself getting a couple in the future and selling the Orks on for £20 or so, which I'm sure wouldn't be too difficult!

As well-intentioned as a donation to toys-for-tots would be, I'm not sure a "toy" that is designed as an introduction to a very niche hobby known for its high operating costs and addictive nature is really the best choice for an anonymous needy family. It's too easy to see the disappointment in little timmy's face when he opens one of his few presents to discover he's going to need super glue, a hobby knife, a few hours prep, a sizeable workspace, and a friend willing to endure several hours of rules-learning just to enjoy it.

That 40.00 is GBP, yes?

Interesting that (with current exchange rates) that equates to roughly 80.00 US... and yet AoBR will supposedly retail here in the states for 60.00.

No real point to be made, other than it sounds like the UK buyers are catching it in the shorts.

Smegst0rm said...

UK buyers ALWAYS "catch it in the shorts". Everything is more expensive over here.

Might get this. Won't preorder it though. Start a little Orcses army for boredoms sake

@CuRoi
"... it sounds like the UK buyers are catching it in the shorts."

I´m from Austria, and although 40 gbp are only about 50 and a half euro, rumor has it that AoBR will be available for ca. 65-70€. Thats somewhere between 50 and 55 gbp!
So who is really "catching it in the shorts"?
(Which doesn´t mean there couldn´t be someone even worse off- it´s just, for their sakes, i don´t hope so!)

PS: Austria not Australia, we´ve got cows and the alps, not kangaroos and Ayers Rock^^.

I have heard that the Black Reach Box will cost 65 € on our side of the ocean and $ 65 on the other side... GW doesn't seem to realize that the $=€ model is outdated for some years now. Wait, scratch that, they realized it, but they making profit out of it.

While this is a bit unfair, its still a fine product regarding the astounding content.

Anonymous said...

well $60-65 was the rumor, but with the cost confirmed as £40...

I don't believe I've ever seen a GW price that wasn't ~twice as much in dollars, so I'd expect 80-ish

HAHA! Got me 2 boxes for 116$ delivered!!!

Thank you, The Warstore!

$60 as rumored.

Switzerland has no Games Workshop store, so we heavily rely on the internet. Currently, the Swiss are emptying GW USA and FedEx is really busy shipping all these miniatures over the ocean.

Because of the weak Dollar, even with the higher transportation and customs fees it's still cheaper to order in the USA than buying from Games Workshop Germany/France/Italy. For Swiss GW addicts, the current conversion rate is heaven on earth.

crazy

People who order Forge World from the US, they pay the most of all. That's how it feels, anyway!

studderingdave said...

my LGS is preordering them for 50.00 a box, im torn between buying 2 or 3 though, i play orks, and the marines can easily be converted to chaos marines. i already have the BRB, so ill prolly sell off the mini rulebooks.

"Dollars!=Euro" blah, blah blah...whiners!!!

Your economy is doing better, your government isn't two steps from facism and you have healthcare.....shut up!!!

That said, I am buying two, even if it means I have to wait an extra month to put a new tire on the car ;)

Anonymous said...

Why the hell buy two?

I get that you'll get the extra squads, but who needs two Warbosses and Captains? Not to mention two rulebooks?

Do you think we'll get an Assault Cannon option for the Terms or am I living in cloud cukooland?

Falling Airborne said...

Why buy two? For conversions of course.

Anonymous said...

For the friggin' awesome deffkopta's! I'm buying 5 so I can max out the fast attack slots wiv kopta's...

Augie said...

Frell this! I'm cleaning out my retirement fund (as if) and dumping $60,000 on enough sets to last me and my followers of doom...dooom....doooom...until the doom...dooom..age of dooom times....

Yeah.

So there. Nyah! :)

Anonymous said...

Why buy two? One squad of five Terminators costs $50, and a squad of ten Marines cost $35. Just this alone makes it cost effective to buy multiple of Black Reach.

I'm from Spain, and here we got GW so we got almost all the material translated to spanish, but if you take a look on our country pre-order shop, you'll see (I hope it's a big-mistake) a pre-order price of AoBR (english) it's 9999,00€, (yep, you've readed well) and now this price is more than a week old. LOL

I think I prefer to make my pre-order to the States.

Hey, speaking of donating toys. . . does anyone remember the name of the U.S. Army base group in Iraq that has all the warhammer and modeling stuff that they ship around to the boys on the ground? I'm thinking those guys would LOVE to get their hands on a few of the new sets (as well as the new washes. . . they used to always be low on good paint).

From TheHunterDestroyer..

It really is an awesome deal, then you wake up and start collecting an army and see........

$35 U.S. for ten man tactical squad??
Wait...I just paid $60 for fifty models, a rule book and stuff.I now pay $35 for ten models???

What a horrible rude awakening

directed at Hunter Destroyer..

Admittedly...this set is a reason for me to test the 40k waters. The first hit from the crack dealer is always cheap/free.

I'm already addicted to plastic crack (Heroclix), I might as well try a metal/plastic blend to.

I love that this thing costs just slightly more than a rulebook....but variant rulebook included.

$95 on the Aussie online store and our exchange rate is virtually dollar for dollar with the US, it might be cheaper for me to import this then to walk down the street and buy it over the counter.

Unfortunatley I can't wait that long and I can't be bothered figuring it out.... GW you know me to well.
