Hi guys,
A few quick items today, lets get right to them.
Updated FAQS
Today GW put up three new FAQS for Space Marines, Witchhunters, and Dark Angels. Go check em out and lets see what's new.
New Leman Russ?
Have you guys flipped through the hardback to the IG section on p.142-143? Folks have noticed that there are little tiny illustrations of an unknown Leman Russ variant with a short quad-barreled gun. Sources say, this new turret option may be coming in plastic along with the demolisher cannon. This would be similar to the upcoming "all land raiders in one kit" concept GW is rolling out with the new Space Marine range. There is various speculation as to exactly what the weapon could be, but we may be headed for a new unified "all Russes in one" plastic kit in the future.
Gamesday Chicago
This Saturday (the 26th) Gamesday Chicago kicks off and our intrepid reporters are enroute, with armies and cameras in tow. I'd expect a host of new news and pics to be breaking this weekend, so keep an eye out for them.
~If any of you guys have thoughts or info on that new Russ turret, lets hear it...

I'm very pleased to see that GW is now committed to keeping their FAQs as up-to-date as possible. This is a real change for them, and a positive one!
Thx to Privateer Press too, thats why its always good to have competitors.. it keeps them on the "race"...
Disappointed abt the new Leman Russ.. was expecting the Conqueror... need something that can move and BLAST!
Move and blast?
You mean like every tank ever since 4th edition?
I'm wondering if the new Russ might be a reimagining of the exterminator, perhaps. It would certainly be good to have a more versatile Russ kit.
Well knowing the GW staff very well, this Leman Russ fact, I have actually had confirmed
Good to see that you will not have to worry about tools who claim that ATSKNF does not exist or you cannot assault out of a landraider.
My money's on either a thudd gun or a rapier laser destroyer, and i'd personally prefer the laser destroyer.
I had the chance to communicate, in the last few weeks, with a GW staffer (Andy Hoare) to bring up a list of questions for the WH/DH FAQ. I must say he has been very patient and open-minded about the whole thing.
Kudos to GW, you are on the right path!
Phil
Sounds like the Russ turret is maybe an update on the old 2nd. ed. Chimerax, which if I recall was 2 twin-linked Autocannons on a Chimera. Those guns would make more sense on a Russ as its more survivable.

Twin linked autocannons in a Russ turret - imagine that, bringing back the Exterminator. Course the possible 14 shots a round if it sits still is balanced out by the prevelence of cover saves in 5th
Has there been any word on when the new all-in-one LR box that is mentioned might be coming out?
The all in one LR kit is later htis year I have heard.
Are you refering to the little drawing, for example, in the Cadian 8th box? It certainly does look new. I have seen rumors of a unified Russ kit with an unknown turret in it.
As this seems to be the pattern now and YAY if so could there be a unified Chimera in the future?
No, but I´ve read a thread on another forum and someone there(who knows someone at GW, who never lies, or tells nonsense and is 100% right everytime bladibladibla, like i´m sure WE ALL DO) claims the all-in-one boxes for the land raider and the russ etc. are humbug.
I am not saying i belive him but all these contradictionary rumors by people spouting "DA WON END ONLEE TROOF" keep irritating me somewhat.
The "No" was referring to the post at 9:26.
It sounds like an improved version of the exterminator but since heavy bolters are no longer defensive weapons, it completely defeats the object of an assault tank that can move and fire.
Someplace on Warseer, the rumor about the new rus is that it is the Retributer (i think, its been a while since I read it). Appearantly it ashares more in common with a Thudd gun. Oddly, they stats they spat out for the gun were oddly similar to one of the fire modes on the Thunderfire cannon. Still, it is all speculation.
Well the Thunderfire is basically a remake of the Thudd gun, ruleswise atleast - thats how I read it
please, let it be a rapier lasdestroyer russ...

Looking at the sponson weapons they look like multi-meltas; as to the main armament...i'd say quad-AC maybe.
I would hope it is a new turret variant and not a replacement for the Exterminator. I mean it stands to reason that the Predator should have linked autocannons as well... but four? Besides isn't the Hydra AA gun quad autocannons?
i think its four mini battlecannons as they look a bit bigger than autocannons but im just guessing
Maybe it's 4 stubbers? this would let the tank move and fire freely. This weaker turret would explain the hull guns.
I have no inside info just a best guess.
Could be an anti aircraft varient? seeing as fliers are incomming in the near future (and with the 45' angle fire limit on some vehicle mounted weapons...
for the SM FAQ, all they added was the clarification on Land Raider?
i guess I shouldn't be too surprised since it has only been two weeks since the last update, though I am wondering if they will get the new version of the Machine Spirit that the Daemonhunters now have
My first Gamesday, I'll be looking for you guys.
Based on the side sponsons that look identical to the multi-melta option on the Demolisher variant, I'd say the main gun is actually a twin linked multi-melta or similar.
Acording to the trade order form it lists two separate kits for the land raider, the standard and the Crusader/Redeemer
Hey from what I was told by the owner of GW in the Mall of Georgia the new Leman Russ has Twin linked autocannons and is set to be released in Jan. the same time as the new plastic line of Steel Legion troopers
I think the first anonymous guy had it right. GW got some chin music from Privateer, who for all their faults know how to keep the fanboys stroked, and had to pick itself up. Without the competition (and last years' buttkicking) I don't think GW would have changed.
Kudos on the changes, though.
The new russ turret is a joke, GW just wanted to see how many of us would make posts about a little 1 inch drawing :)
The pic looks like 4 barrels.
I vote for a "Quauto-cannon"
Thre might not be an all in one LR, but I can see where they could put multiple options in a single product:
A LR standard/Exterminator box,
A LR conqueror/Vanquisher box.
or something similar.
One sprue's difference between the sets.
Get away from the present conqueror metals, and it would make things easier for them and their sellers too.
I'd also like to note that in the hardcover on page 249 it clearly states (and thus confirms) that 10-man Space Marine squads will be able to "break down" into 5-man squads. And I quote:
"The ability for 10-man Space Marine Tactical, Assault, Devastator, and Scout squad to split down to 5-man squads is a real advantage. It gives the Space Marines twice as many scoring units as well as giving them the flexibility to direct their firepower at different targets in the same turn."
I don't want them to release a new Russ type, as then I'll have to buy it. I already have 30 Russes. I don't want another 3.
BYE
hey guys i'm a reel Imperial Guard fan but with the new rule that makes the heavy bolter no defens weapon i can throw may Leman Russ Exterminator away. what assualt vehicle!!! whe don,t want no new turret for the LR simple the old hard Leman Russ. the old variants of the LR are good but make them work withe the new rules.the new rules are great but the LR tatics are change. i can't gun the enemey down with 3 heavy bolters, it is beter against 2 teminator than one ordnance shot! (i'm dutch) greatingz rodney
@anon 2:21
why not just stand still and use your heavy botlers if they are THAT good?
or use forward thinking and move in a good position the turn before when you still ahve targets for the cannon?
@ anon @ 1:50am:
YOU HAVE 30 LEMAN RUSSES?!?!?!,
What the hell do you do for a living?
-Corey-
The Chimerax was a chimera variant. Armourment was 4 Autocannons on a standard turret. It retained full troop capacity and was for Epic, no 40k rules were ever made.
Conquer turret is resin not metal.
On Warseer they are saying the new Russ variant is more like a shotgun/scatter shot cannon. Sounds like a Thunderfire cannon to me.
Judging on the pic I'd say its a tank mounted thud gun though I must admit the battlefield role such a vehicle would fill eludes me.
Surely if it was an AA gun of some description the weapon would be mounted on top rather than on the front of the turret, especially now that maximum weapon elevation is 45` elevation now.
