Hi guys. Look what the tubes washed up on our shores today. Apocalypse Reload is due out in the next couple of weeks I believe and here is a Table of Contents so we can get a glimpse at what lurks between its covers.
As we had heard earlier, it looks like a little under half of these formations are from the previously released GW Apocalypse website. There are a lot of intriguing goodies in there, and a set of new army-specific Strategic Assets. There is also a giant battle report in there.

~There are pretty interesting things in there, like what the heck a Tyranid Living Fortress is, or pretty much any of the Necron ones, and the Hounds of Huron sounds cool as a callout to the Astral Claws/Red Corsairs (if thats what it is). The 88-page large-format book is going for $25 so Apocalypse fanatics like me are going to grab it as soon as it hits the shelves. Still, though I feel sad to see two seperate Apocalypse books leaving out the Witch/Deamon hunters... There were rumors months ago that WH datasheets were in the development pipe, but apparently they have not panned out yet.

Awesome, keep up the updates... I am tempted to get this, but torn between Hardcover 5th ed or this...
I was hoping for more
It's really nice to see that they are supporting Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters in this release.
Those Grey Knight and Sisters of Battle formations are going to be a lot of fun!
Oh... Wait...
You forgot to also mention all the cool new Dark Eldar data sheets... oh. Right. 2010, then?
The IG one is REALLY exciting...
SM kinda disappointed...
NO Dark Eldar... haha...
We dont need more elves anyway...
Still no Stormhammer? I'm somewhat disappointed!
Also, more seriously- I'm disappointed by the utter lack of anything Dark Eldar at all in that list.
Some nice formations, I would also had liked to see some Grey Knights/Witchhunter formations. But also some Mechanicum formations. I get that it's not as prioritised but still...
No Dark Eldar, lolz!
The lack of pointy-evil-space-elves is probably because they have a new codex on the way. Presumably they'll get some support then.
The lack of Inquisition support is probably because GW are mean :(
Looks cool, although I hope they nerf the Sunstorm. A formation that can be taken for free involving multiple Holofield tanks firing twin linked (re-rollable) "D" Strength 10" blasts with no drawback (at least something akin to the Terminus where it has a chance of overloading) is a bit retarded currently.
Personally I was hoping for Lost and the Damned, because as Jervis said, they were more of an Apocalypse thing.
Still though, the new IG formations sound tasty, especially the Infantry Company and High Command formation.

Yet again I'm very excited...
Yet again I'm disappointed at the increasing amount of large format hardback books I 'need' to buy and then cart around in order to use just a few pages of each.
I'd be simply lovely to have just one 'Forces of the Imperium' book with all of their data sheets and ocaasional pdf updates. I suppose all the xenos races could have one too... As for the traitors? - Well seeing as they just steal everything the Emperor blesses and then just augment it anyway, I guess they'd have to be lumped in with the good guys...bah!
Too much good stuff - too many heavy books...

What are Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle? They used to be armies in the previous edition, no?
Phil
The Hounds of Huron are Red Corsair bikers.
they kinda cheaped out with the tetragon of darkness. it's just the square of darkness messed around with a bit!
No love for Dark Eldar. :( I hope they do some drastic re-working of the DE fluff in the new codex so that it makes sense for them to participate in Apocalypse-scale battles. Being pigeonholed as "raiders" kind of sucks.
Six full pages of strategic assets? Wow!
Personally I would like to see them start adding Apoc datasheets to the new codexes. That way you have all your rules in one place.
I will probably get this book but fifty cents a datasheet seems a little pricey.
Yet another temptation to enter the sordid world of Apoc... damn you GW... damn you...
Miggiy Mack,
Supposedly one of the designers mentioned he needed to finish a SoB sheet during the GW Open day. Supposedly.
Where is my Inquisition love GW ?
one day an Inquistor is going to land at GW hq, as the developers are working and let the daemon, the heretic, and the alien and the inquistor is not going to do a thing because it is APOCALYPSE AND HE DOES NOT HAVE ANY RULES!
no DE, no Inquisition.... argh....
DE are a bit better becouse they're in a new 5th ed. Background article on GW UK site, also their picture looks quite new
I think the Sunstorm is pretty nerfed anyway. You need 6 fireprisms at 150 points. And you need to buy them. Have you ever faced a Sunstorm? In addition they now scatter 2 x D6 - 3 in 5th
@Bruce
Consider the staying power of Holofield tanks, and the fact that the Fire Prisms can all just sit behind cover and need only one to expose itself to fire and can be dispersed just about anywhere, its pretty beastly.
Also, although it scatters 2d6-4 now, given that it still gets to re-roll scatter if it likes as its Twin Linked, and on a 10" template your still probably going to hit a crapton of stuff (and I don't think Apocalyptic Barrage shots scatter), its still extremely powerful for something that doesn't cost any points.
@above, so frag them with a Warlord...or a couple of Reavers...your opponent is bound to get some bad rolls eventually.
@Anon
Thats pretty much the dumbest statement I've seen regarding dealing with the Sunstorm.
That assumes that A: One has the models for such, which the vast majority of players won't short of propping a 3 year old child on the table, and B: that one is playing a very high points game and is playing an Imperial army (even then, it won't always be a good fit). If one is playing Tau or Dark Eldar or Orks then such options aren't as readily available, and such large titans really aren't suited to any but the largest of games, whereas a sunstorm can be easily fielded in small Apoc games (3-5k pts).
Also, 6 Holofield tanks aren't the easiest things in the world to destroy, even with 5th Ed rules. Also, they need not be anywhere near each other, all they need is LoS from 60" away to the firing tank, other than that they can just hide and don't have to worry about taking fire.
my roommate has a warlord. I have a warhound, the FLGS i play at has 3 brass scorpions, a scratch built warhound, and are currently working on a warlord. the availability of these things rates as high if you are willing to pay for them.
the sunstorm makes 6 tanks fire as one giant destroyer template. is that overpowered? i've played in several apoc games with a 10" d weapon, and once ppl recognize the danger, it ceases to be such an overpowered weapon. Sure, you can destroy one squad or maybe a pair of tanks with it, but in apoc what that amounts to is small fry.
The Reload book is great. I had a good look at it at Games Day and again when Jervis J. brought it by our Battle Bunker. I pre-ordered mine weeks ago and am anxious to have it. Indiscriminate Bombardment, Hammer Blow and other new assets are very entertaining.
Two new bits of information:
- Release date for Assault On Black Reach is September 6.
- The price of the plastic Drop Pod will be $30.
This coming Monday night is "super-heavy" night at our Battle Bunker club. I'll be building a Stormblade and another club member is building a Stormlord conversion per the datasheet in the Reload book.
I hope this one has fewer typos than IA Apocalypse :)
Looking foward to finding out what the Fire Warrior Counter-Strike force is. Always been a fan of the Fire Warrior, and hope that it actually makes them viable.
Oh, yeah, the Space Marine Scout Bikes are tentatively priced at $12 US each, sold separately.
More teasers from Apocalypse Reload...
- On My Position (IG asset) which calls a bombardment on their own position.
- Chaos Marine asset that allows them to destroy an objective.
- Tau asset that allows additional marker lights every shooting phase.
- Chaos Marine asset that provides strength "D" bolts.
Are Sisters even an army ay more?
No mention of them in the latest WD when mentioning the pros of 5th edition to 'Every army'
No mention of the UK site in the 'THE BACKGROUND OF WARHAMMER 40,000' section.
No Data sheets.
No one plays them (few don't even know who they are) at my Local except me.
Vth edition, supposedly, has no mention of them in the background.
And allegedly, Jervis said we won't get any attention for a good five years of so.
So any reason why GW hates the Sisters so?
@ Anon 5:45
Suck it up or don't play, it's that simple.
I love the Sisters of Battle - especially the idea of living saints, but...
...There's a part of me that hopes GW is a little embarassed about how it portrays women in the Sisters army. Power armour with heels? - please.
Still, it's a real shame all the forces of the Inquisition and there allies aren't getting a little more love.
"DrJekyll325 said... Six full pages of strategic assets? Wow!"
Anyone know how many pages are actually strategic assets and how many are pictures, etc? Personally I was hoping that more of it would be original materials not on the GW site, but such is life.
There are three general strategic assets and then 3 to 5 army-specific strategic assets for each army. While a few of the datasheets, like the Ultra Terminus Land Raider have appeared online or in White Dwarf, many of them are brand new.
Personally, I like having some of the more useful ones that were not in the first Apoc. book in the Reload book even if they are available online. I also am extremely impressed with the new datasheets and the assets. The hobby section of the Reload book with battle report photos, etc. is also spectacular and well worth a look. The Reload book is terrific fun and I can hardly wait to get my copy!
Thank you for the heads up BrassScorpion. Much appreciated. I'll very likely end up getting a copy since I've already got Apoc and it sounds like the new book has worthwhile content.
hey, anyone know when the reload book is supposed to be out? is it 2 weeks after 5th ed?
Apocalypse Reload is due for release on July 19.
Information about release dates for all upcoming GW releases is readily available in the Advance Order section of the Games Workshop website.
I can't help but chuckle at all the "no love for the Inq?" comments on here... are you guys serious?
The inquisition can fluffily take anything from the marines, guard, adeptus mech or just about anything else (Yeah, my kill-team picked up this hammerhead on their last mission in tau space) and no-one can say boo.
They literally have it better than any of us.
They're such a small organization (numerically) it's hard to imagine them having anything of their own bigger than Grey Knights versions of SM air support. I dunno, maybe an alpha-level psyker sheet would be good.
@nosuchmethod:
I know, The Sisters get their own Baneblade, Leman Russ Tank companies, Warhound Titans, Land Raider Spearheads... They get all the best stuff.
And don't get me started on those Grey Knights...
It's a wonder that GW even bothered to give the Imps and Space Marines anything at all really.
yeah, they get the redemption force.
i don't know if that's good or bad, since more often than not the other side gets to control em. hey, it could be worse. you could be dark eldar....
