~Well we have dates for the first big chunk of the Space Marine releases. It looks the new landraider kit is a dual use replacement for the current plastic/metal crusader one, and not a "build any land raider version" one. things such as the Land Speeder Storm are absent, so time will tell when those get rolled out.

    Redeemer, you shall be mine!

  2. Valhallan42nd // August 12, 2008 9:35 AM

Carbonbased, you stole the words from out of my mouth.

I want to get one for my Death Company sooo badly...

And then maybe another one for my Celestial Lions...

Can Valhallans take one too? :)

The actual price for the spearhead is $244, per the GW site.

  4. Lexington // August 12, 2008 9:38 AM

Curious about those Marine/Ork tape measures. Anyone seen 'em?

On the Storm - I believe it's been mentioned that it'll be a "Wave 2" release for Marines, six months to a year down the line, along with many of the other new Special Characters and, presumably, the Ironclad Dreadnought. Never do know, though.

  5. Evernevermore // August 12, 2008 9:39 AM

Interesting - the Veteran squads are actually extremely reasonably priced - Im impressed

  6. Abhinav Jain // August 12, 2008 9:47 AM

lol... the new veterans are gonna keep selling out like crazy!! An awesome game model that cheap!!
I'm def getting the LRR/LRC kit armoured spearhead at 4 LR chassis and counting :]
Too bad abt the Ironclad though...
and Im gonna need to pre-order more drop pods - that Skyhammer Orbital Strike Force is tempting since I already have a Battle Company for my marines.

  7. Ian // August 12, 2008 9:51 AM

I thought the Land Speeder boxed set was one box for all variants, storm included?

Prices do seem reasonable, although converting them to pounds creates some odd values.

Spearhead is $244, in UK it's rrp @ £146 (which is actually $277)

New Crusader/Redeemer works out at £26, whereas the current, standard Land Raider kit is £35 (which is $66)

Does anyone know what if English prices have been released yet?

  10. eLCee // August 12, 2008 10:50 AM

hmm will there be a Techmarine in the Thunderfire Cannon, just wondered because it says 1 model...

  11. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 10:54 AM

What landraider can't you build out of the new box?

  12. Gibbtall // August 12, 2008 10:55 AM

Wooot, looks like I started Salamanders at the perfect time :P The redeemer plus new rules plus new IC = awsomeness!

  13. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 10:55 AM

Converting to Canadian also gives some odd numbers....oh wait thats just GW being to lazy/greedy to edit their prices for Canada. Sorry I'm a bit bitter but considering the Canadian dollar is dead even with the american one and we still pay 35%-40% for most things.... /rant

  14. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 10:55 AM

On Warseer IIRC there were pictures of the CAD drawings for the new Land Speeder. It combines standard, Tornado and Typhoon in one box.

I am definately getting 2 Redeemers. One will be built standard. The other will be converted into the Ares that was on the GW site. Vidicator cannon in the nose, Redeemer flamers in the sponsons, frag launchers, extra armor and Multi-melta up top IIRC. Its for the formation in Apocalyse with 3+ Land Raiders. At that point mine will have 7.

  15. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 11:18 AM

Well that explains why the Land Speeder is being re-released. Also the Land Raider box may include normal parts...

  16. seemyinnergeek // August 12, 2008 11:29 AM

Hmmm the value of my unopened LR Crusader just dropped methinks!

  17. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 11:58 AM

the set for chronus seems to be wrong. it says $17 for one model, but I heard the blister comes with both the mounted and unmounted versions. anyone else heard about this.

also, I hope we are leaving a dark period in GW history and I like th e new direction GW is taking. Prices for models are now very reasonable (I might dust off my 3rd edition space marines) plus the models are really impressive. 12.00 for an awesome special character! i'm impressed

New tape measures! Woo Hoo! Something to do while your waiting for your opponent to move everything (how high can you get the tape measure before it collapses...)
    Mick

  19. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 12:48 PM

Prices are decent, with a few exceptions. I still can't fathom $17.00 for a single character model that has no more raw materials than say a blister of 3 SoB. And to make it worse is to see the exact same molds that once sold for half the price still being pimped at $17 and more. Take a look at Eldrad Ulthran for example. It's still $20.00. That model used to sell for $8.

So, yes GW is moving some of their prices in the right direction. The new Dark Elf Cold Ones are an unbelievably awesome deal at $22. And the new Black Reach set is freakin amazing for the price. But now it seems we're in an odd phase where some of the prices are just glaringly overpriced. Perhaps it's just a matter of time that GW brings everything in line with a more reasonable expectation of what a model should cost.

  20. Miggidy Mack // August 12, 2008 1:13 PM

I'm very happy with the cost of the drop pod.

  21. Veahirin // August 12, 2008 1:34 PM

I think that the spearhead is too expensive... $244 for a lot of IC I like the vets, but Im not sure Im going to buy a spearhead.

  22. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 2:04 PM

Hmm.... I'm very impressed with the pricing, might be a breakthrough for gw. I just hope Chronus won't cost as much, because I'll probably only use the infantry Chronus, not the tank-Chronus. The Thunderfire cannon could cost less. Let's see, a techmarine would be about $17, so that leaves us $18. Well, I suppose the pricing's alright, but it could be $30. And what really gets my goat is the spearhead. I'm not much of a collector, more of an army builder, so to me this box set is worse than Forge World! Besides this, I'm a happy camper.

  23. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 3:26 PM

sweet there cheap im getting these early as hell!!... score for GAMESDAY!!(14 september 2008- england, birmingham)

  24. eLCee // August 12, 2008 5:21 PM

the Spearhead still is a strage combination (why no landraider / landspeeder instead of the tons of character models those have been new stuff, too) but the price it pretty much the same (not cheapter though)

  25. Legion3000 // August 12, 2008 6:53 PM

Can't wait for that thunderfire. I hope it comes with a the techmarine

  26. Lagduf // August 12, 2008 8:23 PM

The drop pod seems reasonably priced.

I looking forward to Sept 6 when I will be starting my Marine Army (and greatly bolstering my Ork army) with the Black Reach box set.

  27. Volrath // August 12, 2008 8:35 PM

nice, finally can get to that salamander army i've always thought about....marines!!!

  28. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 8:52 PM

does anybody know how the cost in euro will be? should i just apply the current euro-dollar exchange? i fear a 30$ cost will result in a 30euros cost here. It would be scary!

  29. BrassScorpion // August 12, 2008 9:07 PM

    THUNDERFIRE
The Thunderfire box set comes with a Techmarine with special harness and the thunderfire cannon model. It costs $35 US.

  30. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 11:33 PM

@ Brassscorpion, thanks for the info.

i was just going to post that the thunderfire was too much money for just the cannon alone. but if it comes with the techmarine...i think its a decent deal. and with the $50 LRR and $30 D-pod, i'm getting all of them.

wow for the first time i'm not complaining about GW prices. :)

  31. Anonymous // August 12, 2008 11:38 PM

    Looks lame to me.

    BYE

  32. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 12:43 AM

Well, I hope the lower prices carry through to other armies. Went down to the local store thinking to check out some bloodcrushers. After the heart attack I picked up some bloodletters instead. Anyone heard if they're going to be changing anything else over to plastic for the daemons? I'd like to add some more tzeentch, but metal's a bit hard to get to stick togethor, and very pricey. Particularly for troops.

  33. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 2:08 AM

5-minute epoxy (the kind that comes in the two seprate tubes) works great for metal minis.

  34. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 3:41 AM

oct 4th releases are.... the codex and drop pod. thats it.. expect more a couple weeks later. so i sayeth so it shall be <--- sho'nuff

I'll buy that stuff anyway, so why not have it all together?

  36. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 5:30 AM

Has anyone heard if GW will have a 3 set drop pod kit for apoc? I'd think this would be a great kit say for $80USD. Is the Thunderfire/Techmarine a Elite or Hvy Sprt?

  37. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 6:11 AM

    @reiner

Check microconstruct.com. They sell the box for Euro 180,xx.

    THunderfire cannon looks great!
Redeemer price down to "hopefully" 30 pounds?
    THAT IS AWESOME

GW is finally doing some good ^-^

  40. Shane // August 13, 2008 7:19 AM

    @taerjj

where did you get your info from?

  41. Taerij // August 13, 2008 7:29 AM

I know a shop owner. New releases were updated 11th August.

  42. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 7:44 AM

Wow, the US:UK price discrepencies are somewhat disappointing. My heart leapt when I saw the $50 Landraider. I guess they're anticipating a weakening of the GBP.

  43. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 8:06 AM

since when have uk prices and American prices ever been inline? I don't think it's that gw are at all expecting a weakening of the pound. It's the way it has been and the way it always will be. Welcome to Britain.

  44. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 8:23 AM

Hey guys, something to keep in mind about the price differences between U.S. and other countries. I believe that products sold in U.S. are manufactured in America and that may account for some of the price differences.

  45. A.R. // August 13, 2008 9:02 AM

*sigh* looks like im gonna be poor for the rest of 08....

  46. lol // August 13, 2008 1:28 PM

hey everybody im confused but im gonna buy my first land raider (of any kind) and what variant should i get?

  47. Anonymous // August 13, 2008 4:05 PM

The Sergeant Chronus blister will indeed contain both the foot and "mounted" version. I guess I.5 models would've looked like an odd number on the release sheet.

  48. MattR // August 14, 2008 1:22 PM

im planning on saving £20 or the black reach, (me and my ork collecting mate are goin half and half,) then my birthdays days after that so i can get the thunderfire and the sternguard vets (and the dex ovi)

i scrath built a techmarine witha conversion beemer and he looks quite good lol
