Hi all,

The Children of Chaos, the dread Beastmen are just around the corner, and reports are trickling in of eyewitness accounts of the Armybook itself. Here is what is being reported:

Army wide special rule which forces the beastman player to take leadership tests for all units in close combat. Units which pass gain the hatred special rule until the end of that turn. They may even re-roll to hit if it is not the first round of close combat. There is no penalty to failing.

Unruly special rule is gone.

Marks are gone. The only reference to Chaos is that the characters may take a single gift of chaos each. Two of them are a 75 point gift that makes the character and any unit he joins stubborn, and a 25 point gift that gives the model a 5+ scaly skin save.

Ogres, Dragon Ogres, Dragon Ogre Shaggoths and Trolls have all been dropped.

CORE
Ungors (Now on 20mm bases) are the cost of an Empire Swordsmen basic, +1pt for spears. Comes with HW and Shields, unit size 10+
Ungor Skirmishers (20mm bases) are the cost of an Empire Swordsmen, Comes with bows, unit size 5-10 (minimum core can be just 90 points)
Gor (25mm bases) can only have HW and shields both of which they come with, unit size 10+
Warhounds are the cost of an Empire Swordsmen, but don’t count towards minimum core and have gained options from the Warriors of Chaos book, unit size 5+
Chariots cost the same as a General of the Empire, still core, and no longer have scythed wheels but are otherwise unchanged.

SPECIAL
Centigors, Can no longer move through woods without penalty. They now have a new drunken table roll at the start of the game for each unit. On a 1-2 they are sober and gain +2I, on 3-4 they gain Frenzy, and on 5-6 they gain Frenzy and Hatred. Unit size 5+
Bestigors, As the old BoC book but no marks.
Razorgor Chariot, costs the same as an Empire Templar Grand Master. Chariot drawn by a Razorgor instead of the Tuskgors.
Razorgors, now a seperate unit.
Minotaurs, Strength 5 and have access to GW so look pretty good. Unit size 3+
Harpies, same cost as Dark Elves Harpies. Flying unit, the same as the Dark Elf unit but for +3 points the unit may scout. Unit size 5-10

RARE
Giant: Same as Warriors of Chaos giant minus marks.
Cyclops: Same cost as Malus Darkblade, Giant stat line with A:4 and WS:2. Throws rocks like a stone thrower. At the start of the magic phase every enemy wizard within 24″ must take a leadership test or any failed spell casting attempt is a miscast. Gains re-rolls to hit in close combat against any model with magical attacks, spell casters, models with magic items or undead.
Bigger Giant (unsure of name) same cost as a Cyclops. Giant stat line with +1 wound, +1WS, +1T and A:6 attacks. Can forgo all his attacks to make 1 attack with killing blow but if that attack causes a wound/casualty then he gains D3 wounds up to his starting amount.
Chaos Spawn, same as Warriors of Chaos with no marks.

CHARACTERS
All the old characters are back.
Morghur’s special rules has changed a bit. Has a movement stat. He can still create more chaos spawn, but only once per turn. At the start of the Chaos magic phase, you remove the closest model to Morghur and on a 3+ replace him with a chaos spawn. If that model happens to be your giant… that’s tough.

MAGIC ITEMS
Some of the memorable ones:
Weapon 100pts: Your strength is the enemies’ unmodified leadership value.
Weapon 50pts: +3 strength. Against buildings and chariots your strength is counted as 10.
Weapon 65pts: +D3 attacks
Enchanted Item (yes beastmen can use them) 25 pts: bound spell power level 5. All arcane items within 18″ are destroyed, 1 use only.
Enchanted Item 50 pts: bound spell power level 5, contains the default spell from the lore except it effects all models within 36″
Banner 20pts: Auto pass the test to get hatred every round of combat.

-Have at it.  Dark forces lurk in the forests of the Old World indeed… That destroy all enchanted items within 18″ thingy is gonna be a real pile of fun I can tell you now!  Feel free to compare these eyewitness reports to the earlier rumors here.
