Well, it looks like Blood of Kitten’s melted their server.  Here is today’s rumor dump on the upcoming Chaos Marine book.  Gird your loins gentlemen…

via BoK

With that said let us get started.

Troops choices will be Chaos Space Marines and Cultists
All Cult Marines are Elites
No new Special Characters
Special Characters will unlock Cult Marines as troops (Kharn for Berserkers and so on)
Typhus makes Cultists into Zombies
Chaos Dreadnaught is removed and replaced with a new unit (like how pariahs were replaced with Lychguard)
CSM now get a Flyer a Mechanical Chaos Dragon (model is done will be part of initial release)
Lesser and Greater Demons are gone
Spawn replaced by “Fell Beast”

I feel like I am missing something…

Oh yeah…
Almost Forgot…
Rules for Traitor Guard are in!

This is a hard one to swallow.  On the one hand, BoK has a proven track record with rumors over several codices (even the ones we didn’t want to hear or believe).  I could see Spawn being “removed” to be wrapped into a larger more generic unit of various “Chaos Gribblies” such as spawn, mutant ogres, etc…, but the lack of a Dreadnought just seems wrong.  Same thing though, I could see the Dreadnought being wrapped into a broader unit category that might include various Chaos mechanical constructs, and you get to pick which exact type.  The one that really sticks in my craw is that mention of a Mechanical Dragon – really?  Why make something as silly as that when we have the Hellblade/talon already available as a perfectly good looking Chaos flyers from both Forgeworld, and several Black Library novels.

I’m seeing two choices here:
1) BoK is being fed bunk from his sources
2) The loss of the old timers like Priestley, Cavatore, Gav, and all the others has finally caught up with GW.  The kids are running the place and we can all kiss the “established” fluff bye-bye…

I hope its the former, but have a gut feeling its the latter.  Your call.
