Faeit’s 40k Rumor Tarot: The Greater Good & Order of Things

4 Minute Read
Mar 23 2013
Warhammer 40K

Another hot week of rumors have come and gone. In this week’s rumor round-up we are going to unveil the threads of time and take a look into future releases , and of course….. Tau, who’s codex is right around the corner.

The first rule of unarmed combat is: don’t be unarmed. -Tau Academy Instructor giving a lesson on hand to hand combat

Codex Release Order
In the later half of this week, there was quite a bit of discussion about what codex releases we will be seeing in the near future and what that order is. While we do not have a timeline for these releases, and a timeline may not even be set, we do have what looks like a release order from a couple very reliable rumor sources.

Space Marines of course was the first surprise, as our previous Hastings release order rumors ended with Eldar, which are thought to be coming to us in Q3. Seeing Space Marines behind Eldar could very well mean we might be seeing Space Marines before the end of 2013.

Here are the related rumors on codex releases.
From 75hastings69
Tau, Eldar, Orks, Space Marines, Tyranids, and then Imperial Guard…… However, Move the Orks.

From a Good Source on Faeit 212
1. Tau
2. Eldar
3. Space Marines
4. Nids/Ork tossup.
5. IG
6. The Nids or Orks that get pushed back.

There was a follow up in the Faeit 212 comment sections, where Hastings was nice enough to provide a bits of additional information.

Space Marines
I suppose I could tell you there are some new units……. but that would be a bit too vague. Hmmm, expect Rhino variants, and also a new “suit” smaller than a dread but bigger than a termie. Will that do to start the rumours off?

Two new varients, afaik the current boxes remain unchanged.

Sisters of Battle and Black Templar
SoB…. not on my radar. Templars could well be headed back to the big book.
I’m not 100% on this.

Eldar
Eldar, new flier, characters and a new uber wraith guard thingy.

Imperial Guard
LOADS of stuff for IG 😉

Tau
Tau are right around the corner, looking at a pre-order release date within 7 days (March 30th). With that being said, Tau rumors have been rampant as we await for more discoveries to be made.

One of the most talked about of course is the new Tau Uber Suit, called the XV104 Riptide. There has been rumors of it having a Railgun/ Cannon, but those have been by now largely disproven. here is the latest on the Riptide……..

from a Source on Faeit 212

*Heavy Burst Cannon or Ion Accelerator + Shield for Weapon choices (No Rail weapon)
*Nova reactor is a 3+, you pick the effect, it’s not random.
*No saves against the wound.

from the Dude on Warseer

*Activating the Riptide’s Nova Engine is risky. It only works on a 3+. If it fails to activate (roll of 1-2) the Riptide suffers a wound.
*The weapon buff result for the Nova Engine supposedly buffs the large blast of the Ion Accelerator to S9 AP1, so there’s your anti tank gun
*Also, apparently Broadsides with missiles get 4 shots each at S7 AP4.
*Of course I’m not sure the mechanics of the Nova Engine, but it appears to me to be a simple random table with1-2 being take a wound and 3-4 being one of the four rumoured buffs. If this is the case, you wouldn’t be able to rely on it happening.

Of course there is more, and yet for those hungry for any little bit of Tau information, there is never enough. So if you need more, please head on over the Bols Lounge or to Faeit 212 for more information on what is coming.

Just to tide you over, here are a few more bits from two rumor sources over on Warseer that appeared this week.

from Neko

*There are pictures of Kroot and Vespid miniatures in the new codex, so I expect their rules will be there too
*The “Cadre Fireblades” codex entry is pluralised, so they won’t be a specific character. They are independant characters, which to me implies HQ. They wear carapace armour and have barely any more EQ than a Fire Warrior (as standard at least) so I am thinking it would be a budget HQ option.
*The new cover is of a Crisis suit. The suit is posed with one leg on a boulder, whilst shooting a target to the suit’s right with a fusion blaster.

from The Dude

*When the Fireblade was first described to me it was as being like a Wolfguard battle leader.
Low level HQ choice.
*Tank Commander
I was told that he allows the tank to Overwatch, which may not be too handy for the tank itself, but adds more firepower to the 6″ support Overwatch if true.
*The release will include two Finecast boxes, one for Farsight and one for a generic XV8 Commander.
*Also Two Finecast blisters for Special Characters; Dark Strider and Long Strike.
*Plus there is a plastic blister for the Cadre Fireblade.
*Just to be clear, the existing Kroot Carnivore squad will stay unchanged.

Make sure to check back here at Bell of Lost Souls often to find out the latest on what is coming, and then join the conversation over on Faeit 212.

With Tau very much here, and a nice extended list of armies to look at, which one are you mostly likely to jump into?
