We were all sad to hear that EPIC was going the way of the Dodo.  But one group of inspired gamers found a new use for all those EPIC miniatures lying around – 6mm Warhammer 40,000!

First up, the video:

Then their website:

And their preamble:

If you always thought that Warhammer 40,000 was a too demanding game for the limited capabilities of your table, here comes a brand new incredibly small design for your future games. Complete with rules adaptation, tips, and inspiring pictures of bloody massacre.

The aim of this website is to show you how to reduce every single model in Warhammer 40,000 into his 6mm version. Shrinking the sizes allows gaming in many different conditions and places, makes the game much cheaper, and much easier to store and transport.

If you think it’s a good idea to reduce the dimensions of the game keeping intact the strategical depth, then in this website you will find all the necessary instructions and tips on how to rescale your entire army in a mints’ box!

I have a distant hazy memory of trying this back in the 90s during the heyday of EPIC, and it’s crazy to see a group do all the legwork to make it all work with modern 40K.  Heck, I bet you could do a crazy Apocalypse game if you really tried – because you can get EPIC Warlords and Imperator titans!.  And I bet with a bit of ingenuity a lot of simple geometric shapes used in many ranges such as Necrons can be kitbashed out of weird do-dads from hardware stores…

I can’t get the thought out of my head of a foldable handheld 4″x6″ table to play on pretty much anywhere – like the travel editions of all your favorite boardgames!
