Hordes: Legion of Everblight – Legendary Lylyth First Impressions

Caldera here and I would like to bring you my initial thoughts on Lylyth 3, The Reckoning!  I’ve had the chance to put her together and start playing around with some list ideas recently.  This is just going to be a quick synopsis of how I feel she plays currently.

Lylyth, The Reckoning of Everblight is the games first Battle Engine caster.  She is unique and plays like you would think, different than anything else.  If you have already played with a large based model in Hordes/Warmachine, then you might already be familiar with how unwieldy the big models sometimes are. She also has the rules to go along with how big the model is and so far it doesn’t feel like an out and out disadvantage.

To clarify what I just mentioned, the battle engine rules basically mean you can never hide Lylyth, get concealment, cover or elevated bonus.  Oh and stealth is a no go as well.  Now you might be thinking, that sounds terrible when considering the safety of your caster right?  I thought so to at first, but I have found that she has enough armor, hit points and wind wall to mitigate this a bit.

There are still some things that can easily kill her for sure but if you identify what those threats are it is not that hard to plan for it.  What I have learned in my short time playing her is that despite the weakness of not being able to hide her, she is also hard to hide from.  Her special rules she comes equipped with allow her to get to some pretty annoying places for your opponent to have to deal with.  Weapon platform and trample are some pretty sweet moves once you realize the potential for them.

All and all I think so far she is a decent caster and a lot of fun to play.  In the coming weeks I will be playing her extensively to find out some more about our new wonderful Lylyth.  I plan to do a write up on the finer points of what I find and share them with you all.  I think anyone thinking of picking her up should definitely do so because if you like the lylyths at all, she is just as fun as the other two.

I don’t recall where I first saw this but I know it was on the Privateer Press Legion forums, Lylyth 3 shall forever forth be known to me as ….

THRYLYTH!!!
