We were all waiting to see if the Dark Elves were really getting a 2-month release wave.  Well get a look at what’s been doing the rounds on the internet!

First up, the kits:

It looks like all new Dark Riders with mean and fast looking horses – along with a semi-Slaanesh daemonic rider unit variant.  A huge improvement over the current terrible stuff looking ones with the cartoon horses.

Next up we get a FANTASTIC Black Guard/Har Ganeth Executioner unit.  These look characterful, with just a sprinking of Dark Reaper/Incubi design cues for flavor.  As anyone who has tried to assemble the swords on the horrid current metal Executioners can tell you – THANK YOU global plastics industry!

The Chariot gets a redo at long last.  We get the modern deadly looking Cold Ones who replace the previous fat tubby dinos, pulling an oddly low chariot.  Does is float? Is it a sled, maybe a very very low-rider?  I’m not sold on this one – yet.

We finally wrap up with a proper evil Dark Elf pirate – so he gets a peg-leg.  But of course it’s Warhammer and he’s a Dark Elf, so its’s nasty “sword-leg” HA HA!

So there we have it from a miniatures perspective.  It does look like GW felt the Dark Elves needed a Dark Eldar style “full reboot” and gave it to them.  I would think that the risk of devoting 2 months to Fantasy was deemed risky, so the is why the probably did right on the heels of guaranteed massive revenue generating Space Marines.  Well played bean-counters – well played!

Have at it!
