40K Rules Conundrum: Chumbalaya’s Inquisition Madness Edition

Warhammer 40K

You know you can’t resist a good old-fashioned rules conundrum.  Its like trying to not look at someone getting a ticket on the roadside.  Today’s special host is BoLS alumni – Chumbalaya!

Chumbalaya was just sitting there minding his own Chumby business, flipping through the Inquisition codex when the light bulb went off!

Wait a minute… IT CAN’T BE!!!

Here’s the situation:

You have an army of Marines with Tau and Inquisitorial allies. An IC joining a unit becomes part of the unit for all purposes.

So, by my understanding, you could have both Coteaz and Shadowsun attached to a unit of Centurions since they both count as a SM unit for all purposes.

You could for example do CRAZY stuff like a unit of Devastator Centurions joined by Coteaz and a Tau commander with all the gubbinz (Hit & Run, Puretide, M3S, C&C, etc) or Shadowsun. Throw in Tigger and Bikemaster for funsies. A unit of TH/SS Terminators joined by an Inquisitor with the Liber Heresius (scout plus some fun USRs) and Tau Batman. Its really nuts really fast.

Crazy, right?

Please take your jaw off the floor, and take a look at these:

unit for all rules purposes, though he still follows the rules for characters.”
