WFB: Christmas Wish List

3 Minute Read
Dec 7 2013

I remember the excitement of growing up, looking at the Sears catalogue and picking out those toys or clothes or games that I desperately wanted to get for Christmas. Let’s be honest though, I still do it, but the Sears catalogue has been replaced by the Forgewold and Games Workshop catalogues.

Being married to a fellow Warhammer player it is easy for me to say I want a FW Landship and he will know what it is and likely get it for me because it means he can order the things he has been putting off buying. It is not that simple for some of you. I have one friend whose wife calls his army Polly Pockets and has no idea what to get him and I can’t count the number of times when i used to work at Games Workshop that I had moms or wives come in and ask for help because they had no idea what a Soul Grinder was or a Chimera. It is much more difficult for you who do not have a partner involved in Warhammer to express to them what you want.

A couple thoughts I always told the guys that came into the shop, it is pretty standard but everyone can always use a reminder:

1.). write down the specific things you want or need for them but don’t just put down the big things, put down the pots of paint, the bottle of glue, the size and style of paint brush.
2.) let your FLGS staff know what you are wanting to add to your army. If you are a regular that is easy becasue they likely know which Warhammer army you play and what you use and chat with you about product anyway. If your wife/mom/friend/partner know that’s is where you hang out and buy stuff they will be able to go there and get help finding the things you need
3.) include other things on your shopping list too, if they see you want stuff other than more army men you are more likely to get at least one model.
4.) get your buddies to drop hints that they would be happy to pick something up if your wife/mom/partner/friend needs some help
GW, FW and BattleFoam and some of the other shops make shopping easier with WishLists and Gift Lists. I know I have my list started already…I know some of my wish list has already been bought and is already in the house and it’s extremely difficult not to snoop and find it and start building it.
I am pulling together a Warhammer 12 days of Christmas for my husband, if you want to see how I do it follow my personal blog and I will post each day what he gets (what we get since Warhammer is both of our hobbies).

Meanwhile, let’s tell the world what is on our wish lists for Christmas?
