Warmachine/Hordes: Latest Unboxings

5 Minute Read
Jan 27 2014

You want our latest set of Warmachine and Hordes unboxings?  Step right in – cool stuff ahead!

First off, this is December’s minis, and you don’t need to remind me that January comes after December. With all the holiday madness, this set of releases was lost in the mail. Fortunately they were to be seen again, and here they are.

More multi-wound infantry for Cyriss!

Here are all the pieces you’ll find in the kit.

This kit shares a large number of pieces with the other medium based Convergence units we’ve already shown. These are the pieces unique to the perforaters.

I’m not sure how many parts the mold for this piece must have had, in order to cast those three-pronged harpoon tips on this piece.

There’s also this little baggie full of them for that space in the middle. I guess they couldn’t get a third harpoon on that arm to cast properly.

The only bad part of this kit are the torsos. While they seemed at first to be identical to the torsos from the last kit, there is a deep depression on the lower left half of all of them that doesn’t seem like its supposed to be there. Additionally there is a loss of crispness in the detail of the ridge along the shoulder. A bit sad since I’ve found the other medium based convergence infantry to have been some of Privateer’s best plastic kits.

Here’s the December release I’m most excited about. Protectorate light cavalry!

Here are all the pieces.

And, as has been much lamented, here are the horses; identical to the Tempest Blazers and Greylord Outriders to come before. I don’t mind so much to be honest, but this seems to have really bothered some people.

Horse close-up.

One of the saddles.

Here is the leader.

A grunt.

Another grunt.

Her legs.

And an assortment of weapons.

I’m really looking forward to painting these guys, but for the moment I’m focused on last month’s, oh wait I guess it’s this month’s new plastic Bane Thralls. Hopefully these lovely Flame Bringers won’t have to stay in their box for too long.

And now it’s on to blister pack releases. These are some of my favorite Convergence sculpts: the Optifex Directive.

Leader and Grunts.

And some close-ups.

Here’s a long-awaited release: Eiryss 3.

Nine pieces seems like a perfectly reasonable number for a small based infantry model right?

Here’s a close-up of the torso.

And her very cool cloak.

Last up we have the Beast Mistress for Legion of Everblight. She’s one of the last of the Gargantuans minis still trickling through the pipe. By my count there are still six releases left. That’s one per faction, save Legion who still have two. Those are also the only two we haven’t seen sculpted yet: the Nephilim Bloodseer and Bloodspear Chieftain.

As always, here are all the bits.

The head doesn’t look that blighted at all. Could make a good swap for an elf maiden for any game system.

~There you have it folks, December’s releases as promised. Check Privateer’s release schedule to see all the cool goodies we should have for you next month.
