It looks like it’s official.  Out with the Imperial Guard and in with the Astra Militarum, “The Guardians of Mankind”

GW says:

White Dwarf is out tomorrow and available in Games Workshop stores, independent stockist and right here on the Games workshop website. Tearing onto the front cover this week is an armoured vehicle the likes of which we’ve never seen before. And what’s all this about the Astra Militarum?

Never fear, all will be revealed in White Dwarf, where we’ll show off the new miniatures, explain how to paint them in Paint Splatter and discuss their rules in our tactics article. The designers also share their thoughts on the new models.

So like so many other controversial vehicle designs from Games Workshop – love it or leave it the Taurox is here, so look for them on tabletops near you.

I for one think everything except the tracks are salvageable, but I have a feeling we will be seeing aftermarket wheeled upgrade kits in short order.  That chassis on a set of 4 pairs of wheels could look really cool, like the old WW2 German 8-Rad series of armoured scout vehicles:

From the rules perspective I’ve already heard rumblings of the Taurox Prime being the “new Venomspam” for the IG.  More on that later.

The kit is coming, what are your thoughts?
