Welcome to another installment of “This Week in 40K Podcasting,”  Here is this week’s top 5!

The 11th Company – Episode 211

Highlights:  This week the guys are back from the Battle for Salvation and they kicked off the show with ‘This Week in Gaming’ where they talked about the games they have been playing.  This included a lot of talk about the 11thCompany GT and should the Adamantine Lance be banned from competitive play, should Forgeworld be allowed in competitive play, and is comping competitive events the best policy and what should be comped?  Next, Jesse and Matt are back with another ‘List Doctor’ segment where they built an 1850 Necron list.  They played the lists against another tournament style Daemon list, and decided to make some changes to it to make it more competitive.  Then it was on to ‘Tournament Talk’ where the Kevin discussed ‘Feast of Blades’ and his experience there, which included a full discussion about the ‘Fixed’ Dice and an ‘illegal list’ on the final table.  Then Jesse, Matt and Neil talked about the ‘Battle for Salvation’!  Neil had some good points on the Maelstrom Missions and Jesse talked about giving away top table.  They closed out the show by answering questions from their Facebook Fans!

Opinion:  This week’s show was just jam packed with all sorts of great tournament talk. Without a doubt the most thought provoking segment to the show was the discussion about what happened at the ‘Fest of Blades’ event.  Please formulate your own opinions on this topic, whoever I would like to go on the record by stating that I support Kenny Boucher in this tragic event.  The rest of the show was awesome, as always, but this debate was clearing the most interesting part of the show.  Outstanding work guys!

Prefferred Enemies – Episode 87 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the guys kicked off the show with the news, which included the new Tyranid ‘Wrath of the Hive Mind’ and the ‘Astartes Strike Force’.  They also covered the latest round of FAQs from GW, which had some fun with Precise Shots and added some weapons to Wolf Guard!  Next, the guys look into the new Haemonculus Coven Supplement that released with the Dark Eldar.  They cover the rules found in this book, some of the vicious ne wargear, and some of the tweaks it allows for in the Dark Eldar army.  It is also the home for some amazingly horrifying background fluff!  They also covered the formations found in this book as well, which had some pretty interesting changes to the warlord traits in them.  They closed out the show by discussing their hobby progress.

Opinion:  This is another book we have not really heard a lot about, so I loved that the guys took the time to break this book down so well.  I am not a Dark Eldar guy myself, but I found all of the new information quite interesting and now will know what I am facing on the table.  Thanks for the hard work guys!

Allies of Convenience – Episode 3 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the guys dropped a massive 5+ hour show that highlighted the Battle for Salvation and the UK GT Heat II!  They opened up this monster with some talked about the process they are going through for next year’s ETC team building, mission packet discussion, and what should and should not be legal.  They moved on to talk about what they have been doing lately in gaming and the hobby, which included what adding Forgeworld to the competitive circuit has done to the game and what is it going to take to GT the competitive circuit in the USA going?  They then moved on to the first of their tournament reviews, this one was the Battle for Birmingham!  Adam came out on top at that event and he reviewed his entire event.  Next, the boys did a parallel Tournament report for both the Battle for Salvation that Jesse and Matt attended and the UK GT Heat II in Brighton.  Each group discussed their events, the lists they took to these events, their games, and the outcome of those games.  This included some interviews from these events, some musings on list construction and effective builds, and so very much more!  Each team then took some time to sum up their respective events and what they saw there.

Opinion:   Ok, I am a huge fan of the long format tournament reviews, but even I have my limits.  A friendly piece of advice that I gave your predecessors, cut this show in half and release it in two pieces!  Five hours of tournament rundown is JUST too long.  Not to mention the duel reviews often found me confused as to what event I was listening to.  Overall, amazing content guys, a LOT of it, but maybe make it a bit more digestible in smaller chucks.  Keep up the great work though!

Forge the Narrative – Episode 70

Highlights:  This week the boys dive into the new Imperial Armour 13: War Machines of the Lost and the Damned!  They kicked off the show with a very brief review of the new FAQs that are out.  Then it was on to their review of Imperial Armour 13, starting with the look and feel of the book with its amazing full color art.  They move on to discuss the move of all of the Forgeworld Imperial tanks get their “Chaos’ version in this book.  They moved on to discuss some cool combos they came up with these new tanks, such as the new Land Raiders, new Dreadnaught rules, and all sorts of great flavor for the forces of Chaos!  In the next segment, Paul discussed an alternate model he picked up from War Gamma and they discussed the benefits of alternate models.  They then moved on to discuss that army list from IA 13, the ‘Renegades and Heretics’, which is basically the Imperial Guard with a Chaos spin on it.  They talked about the special rules for this new army entry, and the similarities they have with the IG stuff, and why they are a bit lower in points then standard IG.  They discussed some of the units that jumped out to them as cool additions to the game.  Kenny gave us a list at the end of the show that featured units from this book.

Opinion:  This is a book I have not heard an awful lot about, so I was really looking forward to what the guys had to say.  Now, this was not the most complete review of a book I have ever heard, but that is not really the guy’s style of podcasting.  Overall, they picked out some cool units to go over and it was worth a listening to.  Good work guys!

6s to Hit – Episode 49 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  The boys are back!  Really!  They started off by letting the audience know where they have been and what has kept them off the air for awhile.  They moved on to discuss what they have been up to lately in the hobby and gaming.  They moved on to the main topic of the show, which was ‘What Inspires Yu to Play the Games You Play’.  They guys discussed all of the wonderful reason why someone would want to play a miniatures game and the rewards from building, painting, and playing games with this models.  They then moved on to discuss the background fluff and fiction and how this helps burn the fires of passion for the game.  They then discussed the all important question, ‘How do you find the time for your hobby?’  They moved on to discuss the new gaming space they are looking to move to which will have a lot more tables space for tournaments!  They closed out the show by discussing the rapid Codex and Model release that GW has been on and if it is good for the game.

Opinion:  First, I want to welcome the boys back to 40K podcasting!  While the main topic of this week’s show wasn’t quite focused on 40K, it can be applied to it very easily.  They had some really great topics and my favorite being what inspires you to play your game.  It reminded me of what it was that I loved about the 40K universe and why that game appeals so much to me.  Great work guys, and welcome back!
