35368, 35273, 35194, 35074. The numbers on Carmillus’ retinal display flickered so quickly that they almost blurred. In contrast to the rapidly decreasing numbers on his altimeter his external armour temperature was soaring as the atmosphere thickened and began to resist his meteoric descent. His immense form belied the delicate grace with which he adjusted his flight path with minute bursts of his ornate jump pack. His eye lenses were filled by an immense wall that was rushing towards him. In the centre of this wall that he knew to be the surface of Armaggeddon his gene-enhanced sight could make out a grey smudge. This was his target. An Imperial Manufactorum captured by the vile Orks and turned into a production centre for their crude yet powerful warmachines. It was heavily fortified and swarming with Xenos. Imperial strategos had estimated that it would take four Astra Militarum regiments a month to capture or destroy. Carmillus had with him less than forty Astartes, spread out behind him in a near perfect speartip formation with him at its head. Two score red and gold armoured angels of death trailing shockwaves as they plummeted planetwards at six times the speed of sound. The Codex banned high altitude jump insertions against enemies in fortified positions but they were Blood Angels, the sky was their element. It was in their Primarchs genetic legacy. The Ork facility would burn & their leader would be slain or every Blood Angel would die trying.

What a setup it was! Our favourite up to now! We couldn’t stop looking at it lol

Great Black Ork 40k conversions with a very Orky banner!

The blood angels deploy in a very unexpected manner, going for a hard hitting full on flanking approach using all their units to assault the same side and having some cover from the building in front

Turn 1 (Orks) The Orks move towards the approaching flanking Blood angels

Turn 1 (Orks) Some of the lootas manage to get line of sight on the Blood Angels and fire at them with 1 shot each but the wounded blood angels manage to pass their armour saves comfortably

Turn 1 (Blood Angels) After some great armour and cover saves the blood angels start their movement phase moving only 6″ to use their jump packs for the assault

Turn 1 (Blood Angels) The, desperate for blood, assault marines prepare their jump packs for the assault.

Turn 2 (Orks) WAAGHHHH!!!!!!!! The Warboss calls his WAAGHH and so all models can now run and then charge! The lootas move up to get a better line of sight to the approaching assault squad, the rest of the army also moves forward. Was this a good tactic by the Blood angels to deploy on one side? The orks now need a couple of rounds of movement to get into assault range

Turn 2 (Orks) Side view of the battle showing how that building is stopping a lot of line of sight shooting

Turn 2 (Orks) The boys stand proud at the top of the building beside their Warboss as they force the assault squad to fall back with some heavy hitting and poor rolling from the angels
