“Missing” Rogue Trader Robots Returning?
Remember the robot models that inspired the Forge World Mechanicus models? There are still a few they didn’t remake…. yet!

Forge World and Games Workshop both like to ‘borrow’ from the “Golden Age” 1990’s for model designs, and the new Cult Mechanicus may be no different.

Now here’s what we know. The Castellan class was turned into what became the Castellex models from Forge World.
The Crusader looks to have become the ‘Vorax’ fast attack choice for the Mechanicum as well.
GW Forges Ahead with Cult Mechanicus?
That seems to leave the Cataphact, Conqueror, and Colossus yet to be reborn into a new unit or just touched up for the 2010’s.
Now read the description of the newest ‘robot’ models for the Cult Mechanicus by Captain Citadel below.
Cult Mechanicus will feature a new robot type unit that is part Forge World Castellex, part Space Marine Centurion.
Their bodies are plated armour sealed in the front much like the centurions in appearance, but with no chest mounted weapons. They are on 50mm bases and are quite larger than the Centurion models. Their heads are a giant domed EVA helmet which looks quite fantastic. There are no organic components visible the models, they are automanta.
There are several armaments they come with; a larger calibre cannon in their right hand to flamer type weapon in their left. Articulated hands with finger appendages are also an option, as well as a top shoulder mounted versions of these same type weapons.
The Conqueror and Colossus both appear to perfectly fit those descriptions. (read it again and look at the old pics above)
Plus that Cataphract model that looks squat and super armored in the old picture above may just be the predecessor to the ‘Kataphron’ destroyer that has already been leaked as well. It may just be updated to be tracked instead of a walker!
So putting it all together, so far we have:

– Corpuscarii Electro Priests (Shooty unit, combo box with the fulgurites)
– Magos Dominus
– Kataphron Destroyers
– 2nd Tracked Unit similar to Kataphron Destroyers, but assault oriented.
– Robot Walker Unit with multiple armaments
What old is new and vice versa sometimes with Games Workshop. Heck after the Assassin models, and now maybe these Imperial Robots getting updated, the future of miniatures in the Grim Dark is looking pretty good!
