“HALO Fleet Battles takes to the tabletop”

Enjoy. If you have an awesome wargames shot you think would make a great BoLS pic of the day, email us. We love spectacle and characterful shots so lets see what you budding photographers can do! Warhammer 40,000, Warmachine/Hordes, X-Wing, Age of Sigmar, Infinity, Bolt Action and everything else miniatures-wise are welcome.
  • The only thing that has restrained me from buying this game is that they are not prepainted. I would be screwed otherwise (in a financial sense)

    • Azhrarn

Well, they are pre-coloured (slate grey for UNSC ships and purple for the Covenant). If you’re short on time to properly paint them, a simple wash will make them look pretty good. ^_^

      • I know, but I have soooo much already that it is good they don’t. I need another miniatures game like I need a bullet in my head.

        • ToffeeRunt

Did you say bolt round in the head?

        • Azhrarn

Fair enough, too many systems starts eating into play time. ^_^

  • Shinnentai

Some nice weathering on those UNSC ships

  • ToffeeRunt

Rusty UNSC ships? But…but they use Titanium Plating…

    • Azhrarn

Titanium will oxidize, it’s not a noble metal, if you use a potent enough oxidizer that is. ^_^ Just oxygen won’t be sufficient usually, but there are plenty of substances that will do it just fine.

      • ToffeeRunt

But there’s no oxygen in space, that would require a massive lack of maintenance, and titanium doesn’t even turn orange when it oxidises…

        • Morgrim

Maybe it’s not rust? They could have flown through an area with methane ice (like near a planet/moon with cold volcanology, such as Titan) and gotten it on their ships? That’ll give a nice orangey coating on metal. Easily scrubbed off but who scrubs a space ship?

          (Apparently the Covenant.)

          • ToffeeRunt

True, though the UNSC does apparently spend a lot of time maintaining and repainting their ships, but that’s a pretty fair fluff justification.

        • Azhrarn

no Titanium oxide is bright white… 🙂 And there’s plenty of oxygen, though it’s all supposed to be on the inside of the ship. 😛
I imagine the orange comes from something else. Maybe they did a few manoeuvres just tiny bit too close to an iron rich asteroid? 😉

Good game, I will pick this up in the future as a once shot space game.
