Horus Heresy Print Runs & Availability

There’s a lot of rumors about the new Horus Heresy box set and the availability for collectors and hobbyists alike – Here is rundown on the latest!

First off several retailers who have spoken with us anonymously, have told Spikey Bits that Horus heresy will be a one and done release. Like Space Hulk, or Dreadfleet, but Games Workshop is ramping up their production and kicking these things out in “waves” over the next six weeks.

That seems to line up with what several other folks are saying online from the last week:

“It’s not limited, and also, they’ve produced (and this is a straight quote from my local redshirt) an “Imperial #&@!ton”, that is to say 40% more than the first run of Age of Sigmar (and they’re not done yet!) Also, they have the production capacity to manufacture that same amount within 3 weeks. So don’t worry, it’s not limited.”

So if this is true, it seems like we may not have to stress much to get our hands on the new Heresy plastics come November 14th. The big question may be, what will happen after that?

Then we have this little tease from Hastings from late last week…

The Plan for Horus Heresy

“As I said back in February 🙂 standalone HH game. Later develops into a main 30k range to replace hobbit on store shelves.

Q: Ok, so this will become an actual miniatures game and not be restricted solely to being a board game?

A: That’s what I was told yes. Not sure on timeframe, but all so far is going exactly as I was told and posted.

…my source (who gave me the info in January) had already seen boxes with the 30k logo on printed some boxes had 30k & 40k logos on, as I reported in February. I will not go into specifics as to what these kits were, but they are obviously worked on already if the boxes are done 🙂

…The plan is for 30k to replace LotR on the store shelves, that plan and the releases AFTER HH standalone box is already WELL into the production time cycle.”

And now were seeing this new release sheet from retailers, and it appears to confirm that their will be waves of starters available to retailers starting next week.

Perhaps more curious is the notation: Core Game – To me that means this will be an ongoing stand-alone line for at least the “short term” from Games Workshop, just as Hastings mentioned above.

Other Core Games in the past included Dark Vengeance, Black Reach, and Battle for Macragge for 40k, and Island of Blood for Fantasy.

~It’s good to know these will be available for longer than just “a drop in the pan”. But don’t sleep too long or you may miss out!

Unrelated to the article, but I’m not sure who to e-mail site comments to.

I just want to say that I feel the new “invite to e-mail” option at the top of every article is really, really, intrusive. I get that you (and we) would want to promote the site. But at least put it at the bottom of the articles or something. I mean, it’s already on the bottom now as well. You don’t need it on top and at the bottom.

I sort of miss being able to see how many posts were in each thread, while we’re on misc. complaints.

    • euansmith

Ah- that’s what that is?! I though I was suffering from a flash issue or something that was preventing a banner from displaying properly. It is certainly an ugly little cuss and I don’t think I’ll be going near it.

      • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I have thought about using it to email Bols to tell them about this problem…

    • Yeah, i always get a laugh

Hey! Check out what I saw on my BalLs today! Have a look!

      • SwervinNinja

I saw my bawls, and thought of you…

    • Pyrrhus of Epirus

its at the top and bottom for some reason, incase we ignore the first one, than love the article somuch we have to email it, but cant be bothered to scroll back up to the top to do so.

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

I feel like that should be hidden behind a button. Something went wrong in the coding of the site’s template.

EDIT: If you click the email button, it goes away. So yes, definitely something wrong in the coding.

      • Valeli

Good find. Hopefully they notice it and fix it up. I’ll mind a lot less as long as it’s hidden.

    • Can I up-vote this even more plz?

    • SwervinNinja

Hey, I saw this on BoLS and thought of you.

    • Ira Clements

I like and want to keep my friends.

    • An_Enemy

I find the constant p. o. p ups and redi. rects a lot more intrusive personally. I’d prefer to NOT have ad. blocker on every device because sites do deserve ad revenue.

Spaces and periods are there to avoid getting this post moderated again.

I’m sure a lot of people will love this. But as a longtime fan of GW, it’s sad to see their once high levels of creativity devolve to this. It’s odd that they changed the name of their shops to “Warhammer.” They should have just gone with “Space Marine.” Even AoS is basically Fantasy Space Marine. Really a shame.

    • euansmith

Calling it “Space Marine” could have led to potential embarrassment…

“How may I help you, potential customer?”

“This is the Space Marine Shop?”

      “Yes, certainly it is…”

“I would like to purchase a Mark Vb Godwyn Pattern Bolter…and a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range…”

“Hey, just what you can see buddy…”

      • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I was really disappointed the other day when I went in and discovered they don’t actually sell warhammers. Not even a decent mace.

        • Xodis

Its in the works, but there are TONS of legal issues to address lol

          • euansmith

I heard that the problem is that, so many different designs of warhammer were produced during the Middle Ages, that the Gee-Dub Design Voles are struggling to come up with an original, copyrightable design.

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

one that combines a skull and a big £ or $ sign would seem appropriate.

          • euansmith

“I shall call thee Dollar Storm Skull Hammer!”

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

hey, you’re good at this, are you sure you don’t work for GW?

          • euansmith

Doesn’t Storm Work Skull For Wolf GW Dark Guy..?

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

      There is creativity here…

The name change to Warhammer was a good call because the community as a whole has toxified the name Games Workshop.

      • DeadlyYellow

“Our community hates us, what should we do?”

“Change the store name to distance it from the company in the public eye, then raise prices.”

        • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

well it worked for Windscale. Oops i mean Sellafield.

          • euansmith

And for Smeglington… I mean everyone’s heard of sunny Slough, but no one remembers back when it used to be called Smeglington… You ask anyone about the Smeglinton Hell Pits or the Great Smeglington Morris Dancing Massacre and they will look at you like you are daft.

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

ah yes beautiful Slough, or The Slough of Despond to give it its full name.

          • Syra

Let’s not forget the great improvement to the community of Staines Thanks to the renaming of it as Staines-upon-Thames!

          • Muninwing

i think… this conversation just became too british for me…

i actually looked up “Great Smeglington Morris Dancing Massacre ” just to see if it was a reference i wasn’t getting…

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

the Morris Ring likes to keep these things secret. They make Clan Eshin look like Girl Guides (or Girl Scouts as you inexplicably call them).

A whistle blower even made a documentary about them:

          • Muninwing

i had a roommate who was super into Morris Dancing…

though i expected the video to be that dark night scene from Hot Fuzz… where the village elders go all Tau… talking about killing the street performers for “the greater good”

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I used to busk for a living, that scene was a little close to the bone! Funnily enough Wells (where they filmed Hot Fuzz) is half an hour from here and my wife works in a school there. Whenever I go there I always feel oddly uncomfortable! As a dreadlocked ex street performer I’d have definitely been on the hit list!

      • Spacefrisian

I wonder how that is possible.

    • Kveldulf

They should have called it Legiones Astartes….
If you can pronounce it, you sound sophisticated.

      • euansmith

AssTarts… That reminds me of when a friend told me his son’s friend had Assburger’s Syndrome… I was left wondering if their really was an American researcher called Dr Assburger.

        • Kveldulf

  • Well all this HH excitement made me finally pull the trigger on beginnings of my FW Imperial Fists army. Watch..Dorn will get released next week knowing my luck…

Here’s hoping I can secure a pre order before they sell out.
