BoLS Unboxing: AVP: Alien Queen & Power Loader

Prodos Games latest miniatures arrive – It’s an EPIC scene that you can now recreate: The Alien Queen & The Power Loader Unboxed!

Hey BoLS Readers! The AVP board game has some pretty amazing models and Prodos Games has been working on getting more out. We recently got our hands on a pair of the most Iconic Models: The Alien Queen & The Power Loader!

I was pretty excited to get to take a look at these two models. The Alien Queen is one of the largest models in the range -she towers over just about everything! Her head crest was larger than some of the other models that were upright. The details are great as well, part of the benefit of being resin. She’s also a beat stick on the board (as one would expect). Great model and a definite Thumbs-up from me!

The Power Loader is straight out of the movie. Mostly. The only difference is that a Colonial Marine is in the driver seat. Thematically it makes sense as The AVP board game doesn’t have a Ripley model…yet. It’s also a really large model and looks like it can go toe-to-toe with the Queen. The Colonial Player may want to soften up the Queen with some ranged fire first… Either way, it’s a great kit as the details are crisp and sharp. There was a little flash – but that’s pretty standard whenever you’re working with resin. Overall: Good stuff. Another Thumbs-up from me!

Alien Queen £ 35.00

Queen, monarch, profanities, no matter what you call her the xenomorph queen inspires terror wherever she goes. Inspiring Drones and Soldiers with hive intelligence she can turn a colony thousands strong into chestburster food in mere weeks. And if you are foolish enough to enter her lair, your screams as she rips you apart will be the last sounds you ever make.

Cool stuff I remember the first time I saw the Aliens Movie.

    • Local Ork

Not-so-cool stuff I remember the part of which came first image in Aliens: Colonial Marines.

    • Iconoc1ast

still my fav film. Full of great one liners!

  • georgelabour

Does the power loader include the female body builder/puppeteer required to actually make it move?

  • Dalinair

Shame useless Prodos still havnt sent me my kickstarter copy after several years. Never seen a worse company no matter how pretty the models are.

    • Tyris

Come, come now. Two and a bit years is plenty bad enough without exaggerating it to “several.” You’d have to upgrade to “many” too early when we hit five.

You won’t ever see a Ripley sculpt from Prodos, or the likeness of any other actors from the films – Prodos said in the KS campaign that their license doesn’t extend to that.

It wouldn’t be a Prodos-related post without Kickstarter backers
complaining at our abysmal treatment. Over 6 months after the game has
been on retailers shelves and I have nothing.

Still, the beating that Prodos are taking
on their own Facebook page over their wholly embarrassing ‘Space
Crusaders’ designs has cheered me up a little 😉

You know, looking back at Aliens I just realized something. The front of that power loader is completely open. The Queen could’ve easily gutted Ridley like a fish. So much for being smart….

    • Statham

To be fair, the Queen does try; there’s a bunch of moments where she tries to use the second jaw and her tail to get to Ripley up close.

      • JP

All those shots were only where the roll bars are though. She never takes any swipes against the the rest of her totally exposed body below the bars…

        • Statham

I think the close proximity kind-of prevents that. I could be wrong, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen Aliens.
