I think the new Knight box is pretty great. However, I’m not sure how many players are going to order more than one box, but they have deals for 2 or 3 sets. But hey, at least we got some sweet pics out of it:

Now if only they had a “Chaos” upgrade sprue for that Renegade…

  • johnpaulthesecond

“but they have deals for 2 or 3 sets.” what deals? what are the prices? goddammit, report the news -usefully-.

    • Erik Setzer

Usually when they post these “first looks,” only GW UK has the items up.

      What I see are:

      – Box set £120
      – 2 boxes £240
      – 3 boxes plus Sector Imperialis £580

There are no “deals” there (outside of the “game” box, of course). It’s just one-click bundles.

There’s also a bunch of Space Marine bundles, but they’re also one-click bundles (wasted a few minutes confirming that).

      • Koonitz

You have not wasted time, for you have sacrificed yours to save ours. We salute you. O7

      • johnpaulthesecond

cheers mate, i appreciate it. i didn’t realize that these first looks were off of GWUK, i was looking at GWUS and even watched a video of the latest white dwarf, scratching my head about what they were going on about.

but in all honesty though. for an aggregate news site, which i take this site to be, bols is infuriating if only because if they took a bit for effort and care in the quality of their reporting they’d be so much better.

        • Erik Setzer

If you wait until later in the day, after noon (not necessarily right after noon, but some time in the day after), there’s a post that provides US prices. Basically just duplicates this post but adding the prices (and I think links right to the products?).

Since they’re an international site, though (as all sites are), they might as well post the UK prices when they put up this first post.

Is it possible to assemble the knights in a way that they can be disassembled again and put back into the box? Maybe magnetizing the different body parts? Has anyone done that or seen it somewhere done?
I would like to put them back into the box when not playing. I do not want to store them in an ‘ardcase or similar if possible

    • Statham

The arms are designed in such a way that they slot in and then rotate into a pose, and can be moveable, and the torso sits atop a pegged dome on the waist. It’s not strictly necessary to glue the kit – you could easily magnetise it; I just wanted my first one in a static pose. But yeah, you can easily magnetise it or transport it in parts.

      • JP

I didn’t even bother with the magnets. The arms are just fine the way they are without anything at all. The torso just sits there solidly without glue or magnets either. As long as the model is moved by the legs, there’s no problem. It really is an awesome kit.

        • Erik Setzer

Yeah, my model has the torso, legs, arms, and shoulder pads all separate. The shoulder pads are the only items that give me trouble, I might just attach them permanently. Makes it pretty easy to transport.

          • Koonitz

Every time I see a Knight that is magnetized at the hip move, then wobble a bit, it makes me sad. Or makes me chuckle, either way.

All of my Knights are in aesthetically pleasing static poses. This makes them difficult to transport, but makes them much more enjoyable to look at.

Then again, 3 of my 5 are Forge World Cerastus Knights, which have a significantly better posability.

          • Shawn

Funny Koontz. My knight is magnetized at the waist and doesn’t wobble, but it does raise some eyebrow the first time I just rotate the torso 360 degrees to face an enemy.

      • Red_Five_Standing_By

I magnetized mine Knights arms and torso. If I wanted it to fit into a box, I would go a step further and magnetize his feet to the base, that way I could lay everything down in a box.

    • Max Knickerbocker

I have magnetized my weapon arms and legs/torso so the models store easily.

      • mrt181

Fantastic news, just pre-ordered the renegades box at my online retailer for 139,99€

  • Statham

I wonder if they’re planning on expanding Renegade via WD or other formats to include more Knights. The format seems very 1v1 based on this week’s WD, At the same time, if it is just a way to shift more Knights based on the apparently new direction for GW, more power to them.

  • benn grimm

Good deal if you want two knights, pretty unimaginative stuff though; could have had a Chaos upgrade sprue, could’ve had a stompa/gargant or a giant nid gribbly…nothing wrong with it per say, just seems a bit limited.

    • Koonitz

Knight on Knight combat is pretty classic in their fluff. Sure, Knight on beasty is, also, but it’s nowheres near as iconic when it comes to clashes of the Titans. Especially those that make for a pretty balanced game.

After all, I pitted 3 Knights against a Tyranid Heirophant in a recent apocalypse game, known to be a pretty weak gargantuan, overall. The only reason I won that fight (and, honestly, had a ghost of a chance of winning that fight) was due to calling my warlord’s finest hour (the warlord being a Cerastus Knight Castigator).

So Knight VS gribbly can be a pretty one-sided battle. Knight VS Knight is very likely not.

    • Shawn

      Expansions! Limited edition, of course!

  • Boondox

A skirmish battle for Knights. Awesome. Can we have the same thing for 40K?

    • Andrew Thomas

Not even the same rule set, so not exactly, although, it could be a good building block for a faster Apocalypse-scale game. And I don’t think it’s an accident that the damage allocation system is straight outta Warmahordes.

      • Boondox

Sorry. It was a poor comparison. I prefer a small-ish model count in my games…

      • DT

        or Battletech

        • Severius_Tolluck

lol exactly what i thought and said to many people including above, thanks m8!

      • Severius_Tolluck

no i wouldnt say that at all, more like it comes from the old days of mech combat… Battletech.

        • Andrew Thomas

Never having played it, I compare to what I’ve experienced.

    • Shawn

      This made me laugh!

      • Boondox

Because it’s not a good idea? It’s been done before? It’ll never happen? Just curious…

      • Boondox

My copy says 2013. Have there been updates since the latest edition and codexes have been published that I missed?

  • Zack Seiders

now if we have the rules for the renegade knight. Hope it is usable for the khorne daemonkin, If so say hello to Senor Arruinar

  • Matt McClanahan

Are they only available at the gw stores? Can they be ordered online

    • Kharn121

Yep, if I didn’t just buy 2 Knights a month ago I would’ve jumped on this game.

      • Matt McClanahan

Yep as in i can buy online, or yep i can only buy at gw store? I’m looking for the knight deal

  • Thomas Gardiner

Love the idea of the case. And is that Knight game limited because I *really* want to pick one up when I get paid at the end of the month…

    • Andrew Thomas

Nope, at least according to my FLGS, it’s an evergreen boxed set. Might even get WD pullouts, like Betrayal at Calth.

      • Statham

Given they’re pushing combos with more than two Knights, I can imagine them doing rulesets with three or more Knights.

  • Hedwerx

Imperial Marine is sold out on the UK site, and from what I’ve heard on FB and from checking myself, isn’t even on sale on the US site yet.

    • JP

WRONG. It’s completely gone. It never went on sale in the US or Canada. It’s not even on the US site anymore. The unbelievable f*ckers didn’t separate stocks for different regions. What a bunch of twats.

    • Hedwerx

Well it’s on pre-order in US and CAN now. 18.23 GMT

    • Boondox

Wish I could help you out. They have 20 or so on the shelf of my local FLGS and nobody is in a big rush to get any.

      • Hedwerx

Well the UK site went from on sale at 10, to pre-order at 12, to sold out when I checked at 4ish.

The US and CAN went live about 10mins ago, straight to pre-order on the figure. The book sold out in 10 minutes, and someone I know in the states just tried to buy the figure on pre-order, and it said sold out when he tried to checkout. So someones buyin em.

        • Mike M

check the FLGS, there’s a bunch lying around on the shelf here too.

        • Boondox

My local GW got two copies of the codex for the entire store meanwhile my FLGS has a half dozen of them on the shelf.

          • Hedwerx

The book should be back in print. It’s just the first run that’s sold out from what I’ve heard.

          • Boondox

Sorry. I just expected more than 2 copies on opening day for the 30th anniversary of Space Marines.
He’s a bit pricey for my tastes as well but will look good with my CF chapter command squad. Along with 25th anniversary, Cpt Cortez and a few others. So for me it was worth it.
Just wish they would have made the entire squad. With better legs though…

          • Hedwerx

I’d been eyeing up some renaissance Gobbos for Dragon Rampant. It gets played more in my current gaming circle than 40k, so I went with them.

Yeah I’d have thought the FLGS would have less copies than a GW shop too.

          • Erik Setzer

Hope the book’s going to show back up. I was looking forward to the nostalgia trip.

        • Shawn

This is crazy too. If they could just make enough, or take orders and then make them to order, so they can still keep warehouses empty..

          • Hedwerx

I said on FB that you’d think a model available for two days, would actually be available for two days.

          • Boondox

Want me to pick one up for you?

          • Hedwerx

Nah I’m cool. But thank you for the offer.

    • Erik Setzer

The situation with that is kind of weird locally… I went in to the GW store earlier in the day, people were snagging it up so I decided I better grab the last one on the shelf, and the manager even said something about it being the “last one.” Came back later after going to another store (to pick up comics and also a copy of the Angels of Death book), and when I came back there were more on the shelf.

I also ended up getting a second one as a prize for a “contest.” (Bring in your oldest and newest Marines, greatest age difference wins. I had my pick of old school Marines to show off, plus Betrayal at Calth Marines.)

Didn’t see any at the FLGS I went to.

Still kind of thrown off by more magically appearing after hearing that I’d gotten the “last one”… Maybe the GW online store will have more show up?

      • Severius_Tolluck

Yeah was told it was a limited time, not limited amount by the Black shirt around here. He sold out in less than 5 minutes after open. -_-, all i wanted was the apocrypha, but he did have a copy of the demofuge omnibus.. so i nagged that instead.

  • This Dave

I was surprised. The Marine was still available to order on the US site but the Apocrypha book was sold out the second the site updated. I would have thought it would be the other way around.

    • Severius_Tolluck

There were piles of the model!

  • Bill Paine

Hey, I’m in the US. I was able to order my 30th Anniversary Marine model on the GW website about 10 or 15 minutes after this week’s products were made available (I had been waiting all morning. However, they sold out of the Index Astartes: Apocrypha really quickly. Will they be releasing more tomorrow (4/17) – or is that it? I was hoping to get that.
