AMC is letting us see the first 4 minutes before Sunday’s premier… check it out!

There were a lot of questions and a good amount of grousing when this project was announced. Everything was questioned – from wondering “why did AMC get it and HBO didn’t?” to “wtf were they thinking picking Seth Rogan as show runner?” It’s been a windy road filled with rumors of horrible story reworks and questionable casting.

All of that said: The show is Garth Ennis approved, and initial reviews coming out of the pilot’s premier at SXSW this year were very good – and they continue to be. Reports say it’s not an entirely faithful adaptation, but the changes have created a great show that’s true to the themes, tone, and visuals of the books. There’s a lot of well choreographed action, and some beautiful cinematography. Casting is apparently spot on when everything is put together. They look pretty awesome in all of the promo shots…

Preacher-cast

From Left: W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root, Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Dominic Cooper as Jesse, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, and Tom Brooke as Fiore

Enough babbling… let’s get to it!

There are 10 episodes in the first season, so they only have so much room to start the story with. Time limitations can be a television show’s best friend. I was one of the doubters when this was announced, but I’m looking forward to more now that I’ve gotten a taste of what Rogan and company have really been up to.

Preacher debuts this Sunday (May 29th) at 9pm CST on AMC
