“Those sagas aren’t going to be writing themselves!”

Enjoy. If you have an awesome wargames shot you think would make a great BoLS pic of the day, email us. We love spectacle and characterful shots so lets see what you budding photographers can do! Warhammer 40,000, Fantasy, Warmachine/Hordes, DUST, Bolt Action, Dropzone, Gates of Antares & Flames of War miniatures photos are welcome.

    “I can deal with this single-handed” …

    • petrow84

“I could beat you all, with one hand tied back… oh, wait…”

  • wibbling

A good example of this ‘balance’ nonsense people bang on about.

The bloodcrushers (assuming there are ten of them or thereabouts) are 450 points. Bjorn is less half that and the bloodcrushers, even with furious charge can’t hurt him.

Thus clearly, points do not make armies ‘balanced’.

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

not everything in the game is good against everything else in the game. Those crushers are highly mobile, and deal with MEQs very well indeed. This is actually good game design as it forces you to take more than one unit type in your army. It is not an argument against points.

      • You know, if you make too much sense, you might break the poor little thing.

        • wibbling

          Was my point not clear?

          • Keaton

It was clear, it was just wrong.

          • ZeeLobby

Yeah, sorry, but it was an extremely weak, and quite frankly wrong, point. Counters are the whole point of wargaming, otherwise we’d all just be playing the same unit repeatedly.

        • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

          haha! 🙂

      • wibbling

I agree entirely – it is the design of the unit that matters and an efficient counter to it, not points that balance’ armies.

        • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

why are you incapable of more than binary thought? Points are good, and army build limitations are good, and careful army design is good.

          • ZeeLobby

It is quite astonishing isn’t it? At this point I just have to assume it’s a bot.

      • ZeeLobby

LoL, exactly, and crushers aren’t exactly the OP unit that everyone complains about, if anything they’re overcosted right now.

    • they do. Sending the wrong unit against a target isn’t a problem of balance. it’s a problem of intelligence on a player’s end.

assuming this is a khorne daemonkin army, they have access to defilers and other CSM engines, vehicles and weapons. what’s happening here is just as useless as trying to have a squad of imperial guards charging a tyranid prince.

      • wibbling

No, points do not, as you capably demonstrate.

        • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

perhaps the Khorne player just needs to tie Bjorn up to protect an objective. Maybe he needs one of his units to die to get enough blood tithe to summon a Bloodthirster. Maybe he’s doing it for a laugh.

There are more reasons in this game to charge something than just killing it.

    • Keaton

Apples and Oranges. Points ARE used to balance the game, but you need to compare two like units. Soul Grinders and Riptides fulfill similar roles (Durable, low ap S 8 pie plates) and are similarly priced. Its also worth mentioning that something an army is not supposed to be good at will often come at a premium. Kroot are the same points as boys, but are significantly worse.

  • Darth Bumbles

Bjorn’s war cry in this battle is “NEEDS MORE BLOODLETTERS!!”

  • euansmith

“… and, as he felt the hot fluid flowing in though the joints in his sarcophagus, Bjorn knew he was going to smell of Blood Crusher pee for a very long time.”

    • vlad78

This is Gav Thorpe copy pasting.

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

as long as one doesn’t hump his leg…
