The next wave of Deathwatch is up for Pre-order – Here come the Troops in Black!

Games Workshop has put the rest of the Deathwatch items up for Pre-Order this weekend. But before we get to that I, AdamHarry, wanted to explain a few things. There was apparently some confusion in the comments from the “First Looks” post so I just wanted to help clear that up.

For anyone unfamiliar with Games Workshop’s methodology, I just wanted to take a moment to explain that. On Saturdays at noon local (or regional) time, GW updates their site for your region with all their new products for the next week. These products are live and you can pre-order them and they will ship out the next week. Most of the pre-order items have a tag like this:

GW Order 1

As many of your BoLS readers know, this pre-order count does count toward their actual inventory and limited run items do tend to sell out quickly – which is why we here at BoLS started doing the two separate posts the “First Looks” and the “Pricing & Links” post.

The “First Looks” posts go up before the items are available in the US (which is our home region). Hopefully alerting anyone interest in whatever product they might want to grab via pre-orders later. It’s supposed to be a quick “Heads-Up” style post.

The “Pricing & Links” posts go up later in the day after the pricing has gone live. These are designed to be much more comprehensive with accurate pricing, links and product descriptions & pictures with the actual sprues included (which is why you’re about to see that Deathwatch Accessory Sprue a ton).

Games Workshop has been doing this for YEARS at this point. We’ll continue to cover their new releases in this way until they change it. I hope this message helps remove some of the mystery and confusion from earlier. That said if you don’t find these posts useful – Sorry? Hopefully you can enjoy at least one of the other 15 posts we run on Saturdays. If you do find these posts useful – Great! That’s why we started doing them. Hopefully that helps clear things up. Now on with the new releases:

Corvus Blackstar $65

99120109002_CorvusBlackstar10

Far, far more advanced than the other Imperial craft which it resembles, the Corvus Blackstar is truly worthy of ferrying a Deathwatch Kill Team to their brutal mission. Optimised for alien hunting, surprisingly agile, its heavy weapons scream death from the skies as it descends toward its mission-critical targets. Halo-launchers fan out and blur the Corvus Blackstar’s outline as the twin hatches slam open, pouring out its cargo of specialist Deathwatch from within to charge directly into the fray.

This multi-part plastic kit contains all the components necessary to assemble a Corvus Blackstar, armed with a twin-linked assault cannon (replaceable with optional twin-linked lascannons), stormstrike missiles (replaceable with a twin-linked Blackstar rocket launcher), an anti-air ballistics suite and protected by ceramite plating. 83 components make this kit, and it comes supplied with 1 Citadel 120x92mm Oval Base with flyer stem.

Deathwatch Librarian in Terminator Armour $30

99070109005_DeathwatchTerminatorLibrarian05

A master psyker, able to immolate hordes of encroaching xenos with a thought, a Deathwatch Librarian is one of the most formidable psychic warriors the Imperium can field. Able to attack with stunning ferocity, hurling vehicles into the fray and forcing his will into the mind of the alien, crushing their spirits and resigning them to failure, the Librarian can bolster his body with psychic energies, moving across the battlefield and through enemy fire like liquid. The Deathwatch chooses its warriors for their power and ability, and its librarians exemplify each.

Deathwatch Watch Master $25

99070109003_DeathwatchWatchmaster03

Secretive and mysterious, Watch Masters are revealed on the battlefield as incomparable leaders. With their innate understanding of tactics and strategy, they assess the unclean enemy hordes in an instant, picking out weaknesses and directing their Kill Teams with clipped, precise orders. Not content to merely lead from the back, the Watch Master is a true member of the Deathwatch, his guardian spear launching volleys of bolts designed to annihilate specific targets with ease.

Deathwatch Chaplain $25

99070109004_DeathwatchChaplain05

Roaring praise to the Emperor, a Chaplain of the Deathwatch excels in inspiring the already-elite Space Marines around him to ever-greater feats of heroism. Few have greater faith in the Emperor and Mankind’s inalienable right to rule the stars than the Deathwatch, and a Kill Team cannot fail to be caught up in the ecstatic fervour and sheer conviction of a Chaplain’s bellowed rhetoric. His crozius arcanum lashes out to crush xenos skulls in displays of blazing vengeance, deflecting counter-attacks and splitting armour as if it were tin. Nobody watching a Deathwatch Chaplain in action can deny that the power of the Imperium is very real, and utterly deadly.

Organised into small, elite companies plucked from Space Marine Chapters that have pledged a tithe of their strength in the struggle against the alien, the Deathwatch counts only heroes amongst its ranks. Each member has been hailed as an expert in his field even before his training as a Deathwatch operator has begun. His armour painted the blackest of hues, his Chapter icon intact upon his pauldron as a mark of respect to the Chapter that made him, the Deathwatch Space Marine and his highly-specialised Kill Team descend to the edge of destruction, there to repel whatever dire threat they face.

Deathwatch Vanguard Veterans $45

99120109006_DeathwatchVanguard07

Specialising in pinpoint assaults – invaluable to the extreme threats the Deathwatch face – Vanguard Veterans hurtle from the skies with jet turbines screaming. Some choose to leap across the battlefield in great bounds, closing in on the foe in seconds, others prefer to strike directly from the bay of an overhead Corvus Blackstar, penetrating the heart of an enemy force instantly. Once there, they use their weapons – each Vanguard Veteran has his preference, and is utterly deadly with his choice – to rend and destroy with an almost surreal efficiency.

Deathwatch Terminators $50

99120109008_DeathwatchTerminators08

The warriors of the Deathwatch who fight encased in Terminator armour are representations of the Imperium’s might like no other. Their standard weaponry alone is impressive – wielding a storm bolter capable of mowing down a brood of Tyranids, and wearing a power fist that can tear apart an Eldar dreadnought – but most of these Terminators choose rather more esoteric loadouts, befitting the task at hand. Some select missile launchers with which to engage the enemy from a distance, others choose lightning claws with which to get up close and personal. Whatever the threat, the Deathwatch can match it, and the Deathwatch Terminators will ensure that the alien menace is struck down wherever it may dare to rise.

Deathwatch Venerable Dreadnought $50

99120109005_DeathwatchVenerableDreadnought06

Always on the hunt for the largest and strongest xenos to eliminate, the Venerable Dreadnoughts of the Deathwatch are highly respected as killing machines by their Watch Masters. Filled with ancient wisdom and ancient hatred, they are often consulted before a Kill Team is sent into battle, that their knowledge may optimise the fight ahead. Once the battle commences, the Venerable Dreadnought is a living icon of the Chapter who sent them, the spearhead of the assault. Any alien in their path can expect a swift demise.

Legends of the Dark Millennium: Deathwatch $24

60100181382_DeathwatchENG01

THE STORY
The Deathwatch stand apart. Chosen from among the finest warriors of the Adeptus Astartes, they are an elite and secretive force, wielding advanced weaponry to wage a shadow war against the myriad xenos predations assailing the Imperium of Mankind. When a resurging threat collides with a bitter foe on the fringes of the galaxy, annihilation comes to the Kurbynola System, poised to spread into the entirety of the Emperor’s domain. With the fate of humanity in the balance, Watch Captain Artemis leads the Deathwatch into battle against untold billions. It is a war that will teach Artemis the true meaning of duty in service to the Imperium, and the price that must be paid to preserve it.

READ IT BECAUSE
It’s the perfect primer for anyone wanting to know more about the Deathwatch. And if that wasn’t enough, it features a character well known to long-term fans as the first Deathwatch member ever named, way back in the ‘Inquisitor’ miniatures game. A true blast from the past.

Written by Ian St Martin

Deathwatch: The Last Guardian (CD audio drama) $20

60680181098_LastGuardianAudiobookENG01

THE STORY
As part of an elite Deathwatch kill team, Brother Balthasar of the Dark Angels joins a special Inquisitorial mission to the eldar craftworld of Kher-Ys. Long ago ravaged by the daemonic forces of Slaanesh, the craftworld may still harbour the unlikeliest of allies for the Space Marines, and the key to a greater victory for the Chapter.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
It’s a sinister and creepy audio tale with plenty of C Z Dunn’s trademark dark humour and some interesting links to his other Dark Angels fiction.

Written by C Z Dunn

Running time 63 minutes. Performed by Gareth Armstrong, John Banks, Tim Bentinck, Steve Conlin, Jonathan Keeble, Penelope Rawlins and Tania Rodrigues
