Games Workshop brings the METAL!

  • Mud_Duck

I would wonder if this isn’t a test of the waters to see which IG regiment is ‘popular’ and should be brought into plastic.

    • BaronSnakPak

The answer is always: Death Korps

    • carlisimo

Or they found a stash that they need to get rid of.

    • That would be nice, though I expect the answer would be Valhallans by a landslide.

    • Mike Salamandrin

They still sell squads of the old guard platoons, so maybe they realized the needed commanders and heavy weapons to move out that old stock

    • Timotheus

Would be so awesome to see modern versions of Valhallans, Mordians and Tallarns back on the Battlefield adding so much variety to the AM.

  • Satyan Patel

It took me years to track many of these down as they were no longer produced or in limited stock. They should have made them into plastic by now. The tech enginseer came out in plastic a few months back at 25 US dollars a piece. The metal one is still 11.50. GW many times confuses me.

    • Mr_Pickles

they probably stored the molds somewhere, and when cleaning found them and thought they could use em till they break, and make some money in the process.

  • Atharius

I can’t be the only one who thinks every single Stormcast looks exactly the same…

    • Shawn Pero

You’re not, but everyone else who thinks so is unobservant and dismissive as well

    • Jeramy Bailey

      The same as what?

It’s in the way they design them now, through building up a digital library of “bits” (like, bytes of bits). It give them a cohesive design language, but that sameness is also a cosiquence. I still prefer it to the old days of a few unique poses in a unit and a whole bunch of repeats.

    • Anthony Shannon

You’re right. I think gold doesn’t work as a Base colour. They just look like piles of bling. There’s nothing to hold the Eye or suggest character, just different styles of jagged lightning bolts

      • Atharius

That seems to be the issue. It seems difficult to add depth to gold when it’s painted to be so bright. Particularly when the model is detailed enough to really really need some depth.

    • SupPupPup

Yep, but so do Spacemarines. I guess with Stormcast it doesn’t really fit the lore very well.

They are meant to be heroes, so you’d expect a bit of individuality among them. There’s details of ones with tribal armour, or ones that have gone a bit mad, or turned entirely to metal, but they don’t come across in the sculpts.

      • Emprah

The space marines also usually got a more varied colour scheme.

        • SupPupPup

There are other Stormcast chapters with different colour schemes. The celestial vindicators are quite cool.

I think they need something like the space wolves or blood angels. A counterpoint to the lawful look of the hammers of sigmar.

  • PrimoFederalist

I remember the tank crew escape hatch: allowed D3 tank crew to survive if the vehicle was destroyed so it didn’t count towards victory points unless you killed them too. Do they still make the tank crew models with the Soviet-style head gear?

    • Moonsaves

They don’t. They were Valhallan tankers, and there were three variants. Still kicking around on eBay, though. I bought some Valhallans recently due to all this and I’ll probably pick up some of those guys and the tank riders for a diorama.

  • Jeramy Bailey

That Valhallan with the flamer? I’ve had a diorama idea for that guy for 20 years! I need to get him and make it happen.

  • Elliott Gaal

They should remake some of the older models into plastic.
Would definitely help them not look so ugly in some cases.

  • euansmith

I think that the IG Tank Crew dude with the two promethium tanks would make an even better Marbo with his demo charge than the official mini; very 80’s Action Movie style.

I really like the crazy, gap toothed face on the Valhallan Officer; but, that sword screams Slaanesh!

How come the Lord Veritant is already out of production?

  • Talos2

I wonder if the talarn suicide bombers will get rereleased
