Are you looking for a good launching point into Bolt Action? Well our buddies over at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy have the perfect kit – It’s the latest starter kit: Band of Brothers.
Warlord Games has a new edition of Bolt Action out and this kit has everything you need to start playing, short of an opponent. Inside the box you’ll find the new rules in a miniature book format, dice, tokens, templates and of course 2 skirmish-level armies to build, paint and play with. The box even has a quick reference sheet as well as some suggested starting forces to help you with list building.
The models are from Warlord’s plastic line and they have a ton of options. If you’re looking to create a themed force you’ll be able to find the right weapons to do so. Bolt Action, being set in World War II, has a heavy historical influence and that is echoed in this boxes contents. If you wanted to recreate the unit from the TV Mini-Series Band of Brothers, you could totally do that. Of course, that’s because the series is also based off the Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division.
The models themselves are very well detailed. I was particularly impressed with the cloth having folds – if you’re wanting to practice blending you’ll get lots of work with these models! Painting challenge aside, the models aren’t that difficult to assemble. The kit also comes with a transport for the Germans as well as some destroyed buildings. Not too shabby for the price!
