All that smoke about Sisters of Battle is turning to fire.  Here’s the latest round on the Sororitas minis.

Ok, we have been hearing of Sisters of Battle Returning for weeks now and yesterday a big chunk of info dropped:

Previous Rumors

“Now of course if you have read this far you are curious about any gossip. Well the only things I have to report are what we have heard. First is Sisters of Battle and second is 8th edition are both coming very soon.”

and…

“…Sisters will be released Q1 next year with a rumored month being Jan-Feb.”

and…

“Near the end of our [LONG] conversation he hinted that the starter set for 8th Edition will feature Sisters of Battle. This came up unexpectedly as he was griping about how he was expected to assemble and paint to (GW-standards) the entire Starter Set in the 48hrs from when the boxes hit his premises to the official launch date….all while keeping it secret and continuing to turn a profit. I probed him about this and he said they were “robed female marines3 that I guess were popular before?” He was annoyed because he had never seen these models before and they were “smaller” so he was annoyed at not having more time to figure out the modelling aspect. I probed around asking if they were “more Prospero girls” and stuff like that to try to flesh out the details before finally asking straight up if they were called “Sororitas” to which he replied “nah, something Sisters, but not the Prospero ones.” So for that reason, putting the pieces together, I am speculating they are Sisters of Battle.”

Today’s News

Today industry insiders tell BoLS today more of the Sisters of Battle line of minis themselves:

Adepta Sororita are real and returning as full fledged faction.

Look for a standard sized new line:

  • Codex
  • 3 Infantry Boxes
  • 2 Vehicle Boxes
  • 3 clampacks

Further details on the kits:

  • Standard infantry dual build kit
  • Elite infantry dual built kit
  • Walker kit
  • Leader clampack (Canoness)
  • Standardbearer clampack
  • Look for all of this in January, with some minor teaser releases very late 2016.

Analysis:

Ok, so looking back at the existing Sisters of Battle range, you could do a lot with a small number of dual-build kits.

Standard Battle Sisters squads armed with bolters and other weapons (flamers, heavy weapons, or close combat) makes sense for the standard kit.

Elite Infantry could cover Retributors and Celestians.

A walker combo kit would replace the Penitent Engine and add a new type of support walker to the army.

I would assume the 2nd vehicle kit is the Exorcist / something new kit.  If they made the old Forge World Repressor kit part of this combo-kit it would be awesome!

Exorcist (Forge World) not as Liberace inspired as the GW version.

Obviously the big question is Seraphim? They are perhaps the most iconic and cool looking models in the entire army, yet are so distinct that a combo box seems unlikely, unless you are talking about a new winged unit. Perhaps they are the 3rd infantry box?

Now everyone stay calm as we have no physical evidence as of yet. However, at this point there are 8+ sources all talking about this including multiple sources with very solid track records. If some teaser Sisters are coming just before the new year – it shouldn’t be long now before the blurry cell-phone pics start popping up.
