Starting around November 20, ALL players who have pre-ordered Space Hulk: Deathwing on Steam will be able to get their first taste through a new beta.

You’ll be able to experience the game’s tutorial to learn the basics, before teaming up to complete a mission from the game’s campaign with up to 3 other players in co-op! These betas will be the perfect opportunity for us to gather the latest feedback from players, in order to offer the best possible gaming experience at launch.

In the meantime: Enter the Space Hulk and delve deep into its colossal environments to discover their place in the Warhammer 40,000 lore, in our latest trailer!

Each Space Hulk is an amalgamation of ancient ships and space debris, and Olethros is filled with lore from the 10,000 years since the dawn of the Imperium to the 41st Millennium.

You will be exploring Black Templar ships, troop transports, and even pirate vessels that were lost in the Warp and became part of the Space Hulk OIethros’ bowels. We made sure that every inch of the colossal ships, each corridor and each room, contains highly detailed designs, unique architectural styles, and references to Warhammer 40,000 history.

An incredible amount of care was also given to the enemies and their AI. The Genestealers have many variants with unique abilities and skills, combined with their AI utilizing pack tactics and ambushes that remain faithful to the lore.

As a Terminator Armour-clad member of the Deathwing, you have access to the most advanced weapons the Imperium has to offer. Available to you and your squad are the iconic Stormbolter and other famous Space Marine weapons and variants.

Don your Terminator power armor, take up your Storm Bolter, and bring glory to the Emperor in Space Hulk: Deathwing, when it launches December 9 on PC.

Pre-order now the game on Steam and get access to the pre-order Beta, 15% off and one in-game weapon – the Lost Mace of Corswain.

Here at BoLS, we’ve been keeping eye out on this game ever sense we saw the teaser-trailer from Gamescom. The game looks really, really good visually. And if they nailed the creepy atmosphere, “gun play” and Genestealer/Tyranid AI I’m pretty sure they are going to have a hit on their hands.

Purge the unclean!

So stoked for this game. Since the massive disappointment of Vermintide and the lack of 40k FPS games, I’m going to be harder than the Terminator Armour I’ll be wielding when playing this game.

    • cudgel

I thought Vermintide was fairly well regarded ?

      • Karru

I should’ve been more clear. It was a massive disappointment to me. It was so badly done, the gameplay was boring as heck, the weapon system utter bs, the setting was used very badly, it was literally just Left 4 Dead with Skaven for enemies. Problem was that if it was made into L4D mod, it would have most likely been better.

        • Hell-Nico

Sadly I have to agree. Vermintide was good, but way too wonky and unpolished, plus the weapon diversity was pretty lame.

          • Karru

Yeah, my issues with the game came from 2 major problems. First being the weapon system. I tried all possible classes in the game and I found that I only enjoyed the Bright Wizard and the Dwarf. If I didn’t have a choice, I could play the State Trooper, but I was bored out of my mind with the Shadow Warrior and Witch Hunter.

Once I realised that the arsenal of weapons from which every hero can draw from that was advertised was purely based on RNG rolls, I seriously started to hate the game. I can’t remember the last time I hated a game. I usually just dislike a game, this game I hated. Remember when I said I enjoyed playing Bright Wizard and the Dwarf? Guess what class got the weapons from my rolls? 2x Shadow Warrior bows, 1x Sword and 1x Pistols for the Witch Hunter.

That wasn’t even the deal breaker, believe it or not. I was playing it with my brother and we both usually try to stomach bad gameplay/graphics trough to get the story even if it was bad. This way we could say that at least we did it. This is literally the first game we both quit and never came back to finish the story. The story was boring and extremely unrealistic and the maps themselves were way too long. Since they lacked checkpoints of all types, if you died at some point and had to restart, you went back to the beginning. It took us over 2 hours to get trough the god damn wizard tower library since a Rat Ogre would always spawn there and kill us 6 times in a row. This is what made me despise the game, something I know has never happened.

Should have uploaded to Youtube. Facebook player is lagggggy.

      • ZeeLobby

        YES. Facebook kills me sometimes.

        • Karru

Do you suddenly get better from dying? Do you also have experience from getting turned into a newt?

  • SilentPony

Why do I get an Aliens Colonial Marines whiff from this?

    • grendal1989

Yeah, I had that feeling as well. Not a bad thing in this instance.

    • Yuki

We’ll find out in the beta lol.

    • Joe

Maybe because Genestealers were copied from Aliens back in the olden days.

      • SilentPony

Well not just that. I mean all the little events and comments made by the other Marines not making the final cut. Alien AI being really bugger nutted and glitches that would make Ubisoft proud.

  • Bryan Ruhe

This looks awesome, only criticism at this point is the catch phrases being repeated so often, makes it feel so artificial.

    • Karru

That and the horrendous voice acting. Then again, I am most likely spoiled by Space Marine and Dawn of War series. Those had such amazing voice acting on top of all the effects/filters they used. Then there was the amazing lines themselves.

“They fight like devils, they shall die like sinners!” is amongst my favourites. Right behind that is the Chaplain quote from DoW 1. “I am the Emperor’s Will made manifest!”.

      • Sebastien Bazinet

        METAL BAWKES!!!

        • Karru

WE SHALL TAKE AWAY THEIR METAL BAWKSES!!!

    • arkhanist

Plus the voice acting sounds like they got a couple of blokes from the pub and asked them to speak as if they had a bad case of constipation.

That and the ‘hey, it’s but a scratch’ going hand to hand with ‘stealers. It actually put me off buying it; maybe when it’s on sale.

It did make me want to finally brave painting the space hulk minis though.

  • Rush Darling

Whilst I’m optimistic about this, I didn’t pre-order for a couple of reasons.

The first is that I did a little bit of digging into the studio, and whilst I haven’t heard anything bad, I also haven’t heard alot. They’ve been going a while it seems, but it also seems like there is very little credited to them. Please enlighten me if I’m wrong.

The second is that I’ve been burnt by pre-orders faaaaaaar too often in the past. Pre-orders, betas and games released so prematurely they might as well be betas (here’s looking at you, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada) are simply, in my humble opinion, a waste of time. I prefer enjoying a game in its prime rather than coming to hate it in its infancy for the inevitable bugs and teething problems.

In closing, leave my shiny genestealers alone, all they really want is a good cuddle, hence the extra arms.

    Don’t purge the alien.

  • Alpharius

Will this have coop? Looks like great fun although Librarian clearly OP. 😛
