Unboxing: Khador Colossal Plastic Kit

The New Khador Colossal is on the way – come take a look inside the box!

The Colossals stormed on the seen a while back but now Privateer Press revisiting some of the classics and adding some new bells and whistles. The Conquest was one of the firsts and it’s even better in plastic!

The Conquest/Victor combo kit is an amazing plastic kit. Everything about it is an improvement over the original – I say that having built one for my Khador Army many moons ago! The fact that they transferred the same high level detail from the resin and metal into the plastic is what’s extra fantastic about this kit. The plastic they have used is also good quality materials – it’s not super hard or brittle and yet it can still hold a great edge.

I also loved that the Colossal is basically hollow. That might not seem like an important thing but the fact that it saves on weight and opens up a world of modeling opportunities is why it’s cool. What type of modeling opportunities? Well Let’s just say LED lights and leave it at that. And about the weight savings – having built the previous incarnation that was essentially huge hunks of resin…this one is just so much easier to handle. You don’t need to pin anything!

I would recommend using plastic glue at least for the sub-assembly steps. You can use super glue + a “zip-kicker” or other accelerant for final assembly if you choose. Or if you’re patient, you could go with plastic glue the whole way just to ensure that the final model is rock-solid.

Overall, I think this is a great kit from Privateer Press. I don’t want to get into the meta or the stats on the cards (I show those off in the video) – but either version of this model is a great center piece model for your army. The Conquest was always a scary option for Khador and now the Victor option is a whole new way to play it. The Khador Colossal should be hitting shelves later this month (scheduled for tentative November 23, 2016 release). So be sure to check it out!

Khador Colossal Conquest/Victor Kit $109.99

Khadoran colossals are mountains of steel bristling with some of the most powerful weapons ever deployed in the Iron Kingdoms. The deafening roar of the Conquest’s steam-fed engine is punctuated by the percussion of its devastating guns, which unleash a punishing barrage of shells able to reduce warjacks to slag and annihilate entire enemy formations. The Victor’s massive siege mortar and its sophisticated loading system bring unmatched versatility to the battlefield, while its autocannons neutralize airborn threats with pinpoint accuracy.

No one can withstand the firepower of the Motherland!

Would have been nice if you’d put VIDEO in the title…

    • Averam

Yeah because it takes so much effort to click a link and see that it’s a video. Maybe you should go put some ice on that finger, it must be exhausted after that whole extra click.

    • Welcome to another episode of Bell of Lost Souls: where the rumors are made up and the ad revenue is all that matters.

  • SilentPony

Well hello there handsome. My Ork Meks would just love to talk to you real quick. Got a minute? Just come over here into the garage.

I also appreciate that the cost came down with the change of materials. It isn’t a huge savings, but it isn’t an increase just cuz either.

    • ZeeLobby

      It is a nice change.

  • Finally.

I’m still skeptical of the Victor’s usefulness, but the Conquest doesn’t seem to have suffered much in the edition change and I’m looking forward to finally being able to field one.

Now all they need to do is release everything else in ABS…

I believe it actually got better with HE-ammo and such.

      • Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. GW-style hard plastic. The awful soft stuff Privateer usually uses is Polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

  • wibbling

It’s a minor issue, but a shame the legs look to be in a fixed pose. It would have been amazing if they were poseable.

This is a better Warlord Titan design than the nonsense Forge World is selling.
Too bad it’s not big enough or high enough quality to be a stand-in for a Warlord.

    • V10_Rob

      Define ‘not high enough quality’.

I’ll be a happy camper when the Stormwall/Hurricane comes out. GW type plastic instead of metal/resin? I’m all in for this type of modeling.
