The Island of Blood starter box returns in a new form – the Spire of Dawn is coming!
It looks like Games Workshop may be repackaging the Island of Blood miniatures into a new starter set called “Spire of Dawn” – but after all the hoaxes we’ve seen this season already, better get the salt ready just in case…

“This boxed game contains: more than 70 finely-detailed Citadel miniatures, forming two plastic armies: High Elves (a High Elf Prince on Griffon, a High Elf Mage, 10 High Elf Lothern Sea Guard, 10 High Elf Sword Masters of Hoeth and five Ellyrian Reavers) and Skaven (a Skaven Warlord, a Skaven Warlock Engineer, 40 Skaven Clanrats, a Skaven Master Moulder, two Skaven Rat Ogres, a Skaven Warpfire Thrower, and a Skaven Poisoned Wind Mortar). All 74 models are exclusive to this box.”
From the text in the picture it’s very clear to see that this is a repackaging. This could be a welcome addition to the Age of Sigmar line as well. It would be a nice shift in focus away from Stormcast vs Khorne and a look at the Aelfs & Skaven.
Storyline wise, both of those factions (Aelfs and Skaven) have a lot of room to work with. The Aelfs teamed up and did something with Slaanesh:
the Skaven and the Horned Rat have seemingly stepped up to fill the missing void in the Chaos Pantheon. We’ve written about it quite a bit and it’s been a loose thread that GW has been skirting around for awhile now.
Maybe with the release of this new “Starter” set we’ll finally get some answers as to what these two factions have been up to…
