Fantasy Flight Games shows off the new Wave of Starfighters coming to Star Wars: Armada!

Starfighters can bring some great tactical flexibility to lists in Armada. Now we’re getting a look at some of the new ships and Aces coming with Wave 5.

Imperial Squadrons

The TIE Defenders arrive with wave V. They have some great speed, a solid amount of hull and a boat load of dice! They are also packing the Bomber ability so even ships should be wary of these little guys.

swm24-maarek-stele

Maarek Stele makes his Star Wars: Armada debut. He’s tossing out two blue dice vs ships and you basically auto crit. With Bomber he also does an extra damage with that too.

swm24-lambda-class-shuttle

The Lambda is coming as well. It’s got a couple of abilities that will help Imperial Admirals out. I could see this one being used to snag some objective for the sly Admirals out there…

swm24-colonel-jendon

Hey, did you want to have your big hitter squadron attack again? Well guess what – Colonel Jendon will let you do that!

swm24-vt-49-decimator

Here’s the basic Decimator as an example. It’s a tank as you would expect – a Rogue tank!

swm24-morna-kee

Morna Kee is a new Ace for the Decimator – which is Rogue of course! Kee has an interesting ability as well. Being able to spend a defense token to re-roll your attack pool  seems good. Especially with all those dice it can kick out…

TIE Phantoms are here too. They have a base speed of 4 but really, it’s 5 thanks to Cloak…

swm24-whisper

And last but not least we have Whisper! If you’re an X-Wing vet you’ll know the name…if you’re not, well, get ready to deal with him in Armada now! His ability will make him a slippery weasel to pin down for sure.

Rebel Squadrons

Here comes the Ghost! Well, at least the VCX-100 Freighter. The base ships is similar to the Lambda.

swm23-z-95-headhunter-squadron

The Z-95s are coming in hot too. For 7 points it’s a cheap ship squad but when it comes at you in a swarm it could actually be a viable threat.

swm23-e-wing-squadron

The E-Wings are here too! At a 15 point price tag, that’s not too bad. That Snipe ability is interesting, especially because it ignores the counter ability.

Last for the Rebels we have the Lancer-Class Pursuit Craft. This ship is going to be able to catch squadrons or blow right through them. With a black die and that bomber ability ships might want to keep an eye out for this one.
