We are continuing our week of Disciples of Tzeentch coverage on BoLS. Let’s take a look at some Spells and Magic Items

Welcome to  Chaos Battletome: Disciples of Tzeentch, the latest GW Age of Sigmar book dedicated to Chaos.  We’ve been buried in Age of Sigmar Khornate models for over year and it feels good to move on to a new power – the Changer of Ways.

This books is a new style Battletome that is fully in line with recent post General’s Handbook  releases such as Beastclaw Raiders. That is, you get Allegiance Abilities, Artifacts, Gifts, TWO new psychic lores (for daemons and mortals), and last but not least, Pitched Battle points.

The book builds heavily upon the Tzeentch Arcanites and Daemons of Tzeentch sub-factions already found in the Grand Alliance Chaos book. Most those units are in Disciples of Tzeentch and a bunch of new ones and many battalions.  Let’s take a look at the table of contents:

After the background, you get the Tides of Change section giving you all the army rules for using a Disciples of Tzeentch army. Everything from new magic spells to Command Traits to Artifacts and Daemonic Gifts is in here.  We want you to check out the book (it’s great) so we won’t be spilling all the rules, but have a handful of examples to get you in the mood for change.

Artifacts of Power

The book has two charts of 6 artifacts apiece for both Arcanite Heroes and Mortal Heroes. There are also 2 more charts for Daemonic gifts for your daemon armies. Here’s one to give you a taste: Secret-eater lets you enhance your Destiny dice pool. This is a common theme for the entire book, with several items, spells, and Battalion abilities that reinforce the Destiny Dice pool mechanic.

Lore of Fate

The book next turns to two news magic lores, for mortal and daemonic armies, the Lore of Fate and the Lore of Change.  Each of these has 6 new spells and any Wizard in your army gets to select one in addition to any they have on their warscroll. You will want all the different spells you can get as Lords of Change, Fateweaver, Gaunt Summoners and Curselings can cast 2 per turn. Treacherous Bond is a sample power from the Lore of Fate that has some tricksy uses. I can imagine a mighty Ogroid Thamaturge diving into a enemy horde and smashing face while passing all of his damage onto a hapless unit of …say Pink Horrors nearby.  OH NO, you know what happens then…

Allegiance Abilities

As usual with Age of Sigmar Battletomes you get Command Traits for your General. Disciples of Tzeentch has three charts for Arcanites, Daemons and Mortals. Below is the sample Command Traits for Tzeentch Daemons. As you would expect, these are all heavily weighted towards magic use. I’d be hoping for Arch-Sorcerer or Nexus of Fate myself.

The Changer of Ways, the Master of Fortune, the Great Conspirator and the Architect of Fate – these are just some of the names of Tzeentch. A brother god to Nurgle, Khorne and Slaanesh, and often an ally of the Horned Rat, he is the undisputed master of the arcane arts. His followers, daemon and mortal alike, swarm over the mortal realms in scintillating glory, searing the land with coruscating flames of change. Tzaangor tribes raid ancient places of knowledge while mortal cultists work in secret to advance their god’s unknowable goals. Tzeentch’s plans are manifold, and he revels in watching each unravel.
