GW’s Armoured Assault Bundles: UNBOXED

armored-assault

Join us as we unbox all six of the new Imperium (and Chaos) Armoured Assault boxes from GW. Are they worth it?

First off these look to be a great small investment to get up and going in a new army, OR to augment an existing one with another fast moving infantry selection. On the Imperium side the boxes are all $55 retail, and on average are around 20% off retail price.

This time around Games Workshop did not put new formations in these bundles, which may be an indicator that a new edition is truly on the way soon for Warhammer 40k. It is unclear at this time if we will see new rules outside of supplement books in the near future.

Here’s the break down of all the values on these sets, including the Xenos ones we cover in another video!

    Review your % pleez

    • Walter Vining

they are correct. just move the decimal two spaces left, not that hard.

      • NNextremNN

If you have to move the decimals they are incorrect …

        • Walter Vining

that’s what a percent is. a decimal value based around a whole figure of 1. someone slept through math classes

          • NNextremNN

Well I didn’t sleep in my math classes so I know that 29% is something totally different than 0.29%

      • raul

Don’t you mean to the right?

        • Walter Vining

thanks I didn’t pay attention in direction class

  • PrimoFederalist

Anyone know if these are mini-formations like the Start Collecting boxed sets? I assume there are no rules, however, it’s interesting they all have unique names.

    • orionburn

Third paragraph. It says there are no formation rules in these.

      • PrimoFederalist

        Wow, reading is hard

        • orionburn

lol…we all miss things from time to time.

    • Walter Vining

      why WOULD they be?

      • PrimoFederalist

Because they’ve been doing it with most of their other bundles. I’m not promoting the idea, but I found it odd they named them all.

        • Walter Vining

naming them gives them something to be remembered and exciting. would you buy a box called “10 dudes and a truck”?

        • NNextremNN

They are just an infantry units with an attached transport.

  • ZeeLobby

Not sure if they understand how percentages work XD

  • Lee Wilde

“Join us as we unbox all six of the new Imperium (and Chaos) Armoured Assault boxes from GW. Are they worth it?” Well yeh of course it’s worth it…

    • ZeeLobby

But what if the contents aren’t the same as what’s shown on the box? What if it’s made of rubber instead of plastic? What if there are decals? WE MUST KNOW!?!?!

    • Nyyppä

From purely modeling perspective this is true. From the rules perspective…not so much.

      • Lee Wilde

Not sure what the rules have to do with it. It’s about saving money, if you wan’t a SM squad and a drop pod then it’s a good deal, if you don’t wan’t the drop pod then it’s not a good deal. If you buy them from an independent store then you get the rhino/drop pod/truk basically for free.

        • Nyyppä

If you want a specific chapter’s marine squad in a drop pod. BA did not get that, DA did not get that. If you are unlucky enough to play the wrong chapter you do not get to save anything.

The rules are related to this because a rhino is useless compared to drop pods. It does not stop there but that’s the easiest comparison.

  • Shawn

Uhm, what is there to unbox? They’re all minis that are found in any other bundle or kit.

  • Paul Mattingley

    I remember 3 Rhino’s for £10.

    • ☕ Rich Brimson ☕

I also remember them looking garbage.

      • Paul Mattingley

        There was that.

  • orionburn

While I don’t have much interest in picking any up for my DA army I am glad GW are doing the bundles like this to get us some cost savings. Would be nice if these change these up each year to mix-up the weapon options – like a drop pod set featuring a melta theme (standard, heavy, and combi-pistol for the sarge).

These combined with the start collecting boxes doesn’t make it so daunting to start another army. So I tell myself. And my wallet.

  • Harthelion

I’m surprised people expected formations with these bundles. The majority of them are literally an infantry squad with their dedicated transport and that’s it. .-.

  • Rightarmofthefreeworld

Also, the Dark Angel’s one includes the upgrade sprue so you’re saving even more.

  • VOX

Buy two for the price of two! Bargain

  • Jennifer Burdoo

I remember when that Armoured Fist box cost $28.
