Our Friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over this fun little gem – Little Circuses from IDW Games is out now:

Little Circuses is billed as a quick game (45 minutes) of worker placement and circus building. Each player takes the role of a manager of – wait for it – a little circus. Your goal is to end up with the most successful (i.e. famous) circus by the end of the game. You want to do that so you can inherit the “Big Top” from your uncle the ring master and go on to run the show. It’s a simple concept but it’s got some teeth to it in terms of gameplay.

As the game progresses you’ll have the option to purchase new attractions in your little circus. These will bring in more profit which you can then turn around to replace other attractions – the kicker is that all the players are basically pulling from the same pool. So you have to manage your resources wisely – remember it’s not about who has the largest stack of cash at the end, it’s about which circus is has the most fame (although the cash does count towards your score).

Overall, it’s a solid pick-up for family game night – players of all ages will be able to grasp the concepts of the game fairly quickly and it’s fast enough to keep people interested. Plus there is a fair bit of strategizing when you’re playing against a group of adults. I could see this one getting a little bit cut-throat in some gaming groups. Little Circuses is in stores now so go check it out!
