Designed for use in the game’s Cinematic Play and Epic Play formats, the C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack contains one C-ROC Cruiser miniature, one M3-A Interceptor miniature with an alternate paint scheme, seven ship cards, thirty upgrade cards, and all the maneuver dials, damage decks, tokens, and game pieces that you need to fly your C-ROC Cruiser and its escort to battle. Additionally, the expansion includes a new campaign for Cinematic Play in which your C-ROC draws the ire of either the Galactic Empire or Rebel Alliance.

The C-ROC Cruiser a new huge ship for the Scum faction. Based off the same frame as work as the Gozanti-class Cruiser, it’s main commercial use is for cargo transport. It has extra cargo space and three additional engines and this makes it a popular choice for merchant convoys and fleets.

However, this is Scum and Villainy! The C-ROC can be used as a ship for epic play and can be quite the beast of burden:

Ten Hull and Four shield is nothing to scoff at when you consider it’s action bar. It can reinforce and recover which will help out with it’s ability to tank damage. Plus for only 35 points base, that’s a pretty good deal! Here are three of the upgrade cards that will also help out with this beast of a boat:

But that’s not all that’s included. The C-ROC also has some new cards that the Scum faction can use plus some extra cards to help out the M3-A Scyks.

First off, we have the updated version of the “Heavy Scyk” Interceptor card. This has the new errata included.

We also have the new “Light Scyk” Interceptor card. This is interesting because it’s -2 points, so it makes all your M3-A’s cheaper. Plus it changes all their banks into green maneuvers. The cost is that you loose your modification slots. Oh, and every damage card dealt to this ship is now face up. Ouch. Then again, they only have 1 shield and 2 hull – so are crits really that bad for it? Not when you can run 8 Cartel Spacers in a list…

Cikatro Vizago is a pretty interesting card. The ability to instantly swap out your upgrades seems REALLY good and will only get better as the game grows and the card pool deepens. On the flip side, you do have to give up a passenger slot – but that could be worth it if you need to customize your list on the fly!

I’m sure we’ll see more teasers from FFG in the coming weeks – It looks like we are getting a Hutt after-all! So keep an eye out for the C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack, due in Q1 of 2017!

That M3-A Interceptor repaint looks Scyk…

  • Sam Nolton

EXACTLY the ship I was hoping/predicting Scum would get! Love the design of this thing, can’t wait to pick one up.

    • Spacefrisian

I was thinking another ship, but this does the trick as well, a Scyk and an extra ship.

      • Sam Nolton

What other ship were you thinking?

        • BBB

I think quite a few people were expecting the Action IV or Star Jewel, although both of those would be CR90/Raider size. I thought we might even see the SoroSuub Luxury Yacht as the 1 card Scum ship – it’s a little large for standard play, but a little small for Epic.

The C-ROC is different enough in style from the Imperial Assault Carrier, though – I think it looks great.

    • Donald Wendt

Apart from the dorsal engine I’m really liking this ship. That engine is just begging to be cut off to balance the look of the ship. Much prefer the Broken Horn version of the C-ROC. That’s why they make modeling saws and green paint, though.

I do find the idea of bringing the sideboard to X-Wing intriguing and I’m always happy to see more Epic ships. If it brings some non epic players kicking and screaming into Epic since they “need” to buy the ship to get the upgrades to stay competitive…well, the big game player in me doesn’t mind. http://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/fbbf7d11262fb110b483530f45525a0cc3e9c0ffc233fce9ff712c871606fdc9.png

      • Sam Nolton

From what I’ve read on wookiepedia the C-Roc is modular, super-adaptable design. You could totally make some modifications like this.

  • Aw, no Wild Karrde?
Then again, she probably would be more the size of the corvettes.

    • Donald Wendt

According to Wookipedia the Corellian Corvette and Action IV are similar in size…so maybe you get your wish and the Wild Karrde will be the shooty ship to compete with the Raider and CR-90.

      • Gregory Heyes

The Action VI also opens up the option for the Interceptor Frigate – I can imagine the option for “snap on” parts to switch between the two.

        • Gregory Heyes

Secondary thoughts – this is the one-card Huge ship, like the Rebel Transport and the Imperial Gozanti. That would mean there is still space for a two-card version to rival the Raider and CR90…maybe that’ll be the Interceptor.

  • Drew

Unfortunately still doesn’t change the fact that the Scyk is a bad ship. =(

If you assume that the core set ships are supposed to be the “baseline” that all others are balanced from (and theoretically, this is the case), then the Scyk compares unfavorably to both its Imperial counterparts, the TIE fighter and especially the vastly superior (and comparably costed) TIE/FO. I really like the way it looks (I own two), but it’s just not a good ship, even with the new “light Scyk” card.

    • Donald Wendt

Except the “baseline” Scum ship would be the Z-95 or Y-Wing….wouldn’t they? The Z’s no slouch if kitted right.

      • Drew

That is definitely true! Unfortunately, that makes the Scyk even harder to justify; it seems to be trying to fill that “cheap as chips” spot but is significantly worse than the Z-95, which is comparably costed.

        • BBB

That’s just totally inaccurate. The Scyk has a better dial than the Z-95, higher pilot skill, Barrel Roll and an extra point of agility, and is now available – as you say yourself – at a comparable cost. A Light Scyk Swarm would eat a Z-95 swarm alive.

And we haven’t even mentioned the possibilities offered by Light Scyk Tansarri Veterans with Mindlink, Crackshot or various other EPT cards.

    • adamharry

We don’t know who the 4 Scyk Pilots are yet – I’d wait until then to make a final judgement on the M3-A Interceptor.

      • BBB

Well, we know one of them is PS1 – could we see a pilot with the potential to be a superblocker?

  • dinodoc

I really want a Cartel fleet for Armada.
