Games Workshop has some more hints for Cypher’s role in the Gathering Storm. He’s bringing Hope and Despair…but for whom?

On Sunday we had a rumor pop-up about the true identity of the “Fallen” Dark Angel Cypher. Today, we learned that he and Guilliman have another connection and some begrudging respect between them. Well now we have another hint at what Cypher is up to:

via Warhammer 40000 (Facebook)

“The pistols are named hope and despair? Which one is which, we wonder…

Cypher returns to the Imperium as part of the Triumvirate of the Primarch set this weekend.”

The 40k Webteam are being very tongue-in-cheek with that quote but it does make me wonder what Cypher calls his pistols…I would have gone with Truth & Justice…or Law & Order. Or I would have just called them Chuck & Norris.

Anyway, this is an interesting tidbit coming from none other than Luther, the man who discovered Primarch Lion El’Jonson. Luther claims, of course, that he is innocent of any betrayal and that the Lion will return to absolve him of any wrong doing. Now, if you haven’t been keeping up with the events of the Dark Angels and their homeworld, let’s just say things get a little fuzzy. There is some possible Time Travel and other Fallen involved. At this point, it’s really hard to say who’s version is right. Which brings us back to the man of the hour: Cypher.

Lord Cypher was originally a title that was given to a member of the Order of Caliban. To become Lord Cypher, the indiviual had to give up there previous name, cover their appearance and even forsake their personality. The last known person to be appointed as Lord Cypher was Zahariel who was given the title by Luther. Is the current Cypher Zahariel or Farith Redloss? How does he have this connection to Luther? And why is he heading to Terra with Guilliman now all this time?

The truth is coming. Anyone else getting pumped for Gathering Storm III: Rise of the Primarch? March can’t get here fast enough!
