Ordo Sinister: the Psi-Titans Walk

Shrouded in secrecy for decades, the dread Psi-Titans are revealed at last.

The Imperial Palace is breached! While the Emperor tries to hold mystic wards in place, a desperate battle takes place in the twisting, arcane dimension known as the webway…

Ordo Sinister $4.99

The webway – a bizarre alien landscape created by the eldar in ages long past; a network of otherworldly tunnels that burrow through time and space. When the wards protecting the webway are accidentally breached by the primarch Magnus, hordes of daemons are able to exploit this weakness to attack the heart of Terra directly. While the Emperor himself tries to hold the wards in place, a desperate battle takes place in the webway itself – a battle that requires very special combatants – among them the Psi-Titan Borealis Thoon.

Previous History

Here’s what Adeptus Titanicus said about the Ordo Sinister years back:

“The Ordo Sinister is the most elite and senior Divisio Mandati Titan order of the Collegia Titanica, and consists of only twelve Imperator class Titans. Under the command of its renowned Grand Master Ferromort, the Ordo Sinister’s purpose is simple: to inspire terror and obedience in those who wish to rebel against the the Pax Imperium, to enforce with the strength of steel the words of the Adeptus. In this respect the Legion often works in conjunction with the Adeptus Arbites, the Inquisition and the Ecclesiarchy. The carefully planned assaults of Grand Master Ferromort are famous for their precision, ferocity and flawless execution. Great pains are taken to use the Legion as an example of implacable and faceless Imperial efficiency.

In “persuading” particularly unruly governors to submit to Imperial will, the Legio Ordo Sinister has destroyed hundreds of supposedly impregnable fortresses and palaces. The Legion remains an instrument of precision for the Imperium – a well-honed saber rather than the sledgehammer of planetary bombardment or the broadsword of Space Marine intercession.”

No notes about psychic abilities at all.  It will be interesting to see where the book takes this.

ForgeWorld also put out some 40K stats for Imperial Psychic titans in INFERNO, so it looks like one way or the other we’re going to learn all about these guys. Here’s the stats of one of their weapons: The Sisnistramanus Tenebrae.

~ I bet these guys take out Daemons by the hundreds…

  • georgelabour

You know if there’s a situation where the ARBITES would need a dozen imperator titans…they probably should have called for some backup a long LONG time before it got to that point.

Still this looks like something to pick up along master of mankind when the budget petmits it. I’ve always been curious about psi-titans but to my knowledge this is their first appearance in actual story form.

    • SilentPony

I thought one was deployed to fight in the 3rd War of Armageddon but I could be wrong.

      • georgelabour

I do recall there being one psi-titan listed on the order of battle in one of the core rule books alongside the knight households.

But I meant more along the lines of their actual useage in a short story or novel form. To my knowledge we’ve only had quick mentions here and there with very little information on who, how, and why they’re deployed.

    • PrimoFederalist

      Yeah… I don’t think they’d all deploy together.

      • georgelabour

The fluff seems to indicate they deploy en masse as a display of force that provides its own morale boosting levels of overkill.

So they at least deploy in battlegroups of multiple Imperators.

    • Earth127

Lol , if anyone needs a dozen imperator titans they should have called for back up a long time ago.

    • jmaximum

It could be that the Arbites call the Governor, the Governor calls…someone….and that someone goes “well $#!t, this is bad. send in the Psy-titans”

  • benn grimm

Only 12 Emperator titans? Only? How ever will they manage…

  • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

The webway wasn’t created by the Eldar,I thought it was the Old Ones?

    • Azhrarn

A bit of both I think, the Eldar at their pre-fall tech-level could construct webway sections (that’s how the Black Library was connected I presume), but post-fall they no longer can. The majority of it was Old Ones work though.

      • Gorsameth

Actually the Black Library is not a ‘building’ or ‘section’ of the webway. Its a Craftworld travelling through the webway (See Atlas Infernal)

        • Earth127

Also they can to a limited degree still create new tunnels. They just don’t have the resources to do it en masse, hell they can’t even maintain it properly.

        • Azhrarn

it does have several direct links with paths of the webway, those definitely weren’t there from the start. The tunnel it’s in is a different matter.

  • Earl Tower

Egads now that would be a nightmare force to model, even in the old Epic scale. Still should be a good story to read.

  • Psi-Titans and Ordo Sinister are separate entities…. In this article they’re made out as the same thing.

    • correction, the established cannon is that the ordo-sinster is made up of 20 psi-warlord titans. they are the ONLY imperial psi-titans every made, and they answer only to the emperor personally (like the custodes).

older fluff is now been retconned.

      • Ah so with them made up of Imperators is the retconned bit whilst they now have Psi titans. interesting, must have missed that bit! 🙂 What was it retconned in? I think I have some reading to do!

        • forge world’s HH:Inferno book

          • Love those books but they’re so expensive I can rarely buy them. Can’t wait to get to see Inferno just have to save my pennies 😉

  • Ve Ly Pè

    Shouldn´t it have a more `psychic` effect?

  • Old zogwort

How do these planet hopping titans hop planets ?

    • OldHat

      Dropships and spaceships.

    • georgelabour

Really big space sea turtles, mate.

With rope made from the human hair off the backs of a billion martyrs.

    • mgdavey

  • Christopher Witecki

So glad they’ve changed these titans to be bigger after years of no one asking for that. Who wants an easy to store plastic Imperator like the 6mm one when you can have a giant, delicate and hard to store Imperator titan made of carcinogenic resin?
