Start Collecting: Khorne Bloodbound $85

~ SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

  • deris87

    So, Khorne Daemonkin for AoS.

    • EnTyme

Hopefully. A mechanic like Blood Tithe could be really helpful and could help the Bloodbound be a little more competitive.

      • Krizzab

        or an Khorne Flakes one!!.

    • ragelion

Khorne is also getting his own prayer lore as well.

      • Kinsman

That’s exciting! Hopefully we get some more long range options that affect multiple models in a unit. As it stands, Slaughterpriests are our only real guns.

        • Huntard

and skullcannons, and skullgrinders dedicated to khorne

  • Orodruin

Did any of the Tzeentch daemons get new rules when the battletome came out? Different from the sheets that are up on the unit’s page in the webstore.

    • EnTyme

Kairos and the Lord of Change got updated. To my knowledge, everything else stayed the same.

      • Devourer

Isn’t “blue horrors split into brimstone horrors” new?

        • EnTyme

Technically, that was brought in with Silver Tower.

      • Khelthros

Kairic Acolytes got a full kit. Same for Tzaangors. So their Warscrolls updated.

  • Karru

Hmm… If this continues and they release one for Nurgle, I just might have to start AoS.

Question for those more experienced with the book, what units are there in the Tzeentch one? Does it have regular Chaos Warriors as well or are the only mortal units within the Cultist guys (name totally forgotten)?

    • EnTyme

Only Daemons and Arcanites (Acolytes and Tzaangors) were in the battletome.

      • Orodruin

        Ah, that’s too bad.

      • Khelthros

1 Slaves to Darkness is in the book as well, Chaos Spawn.

      • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

You are wrong, it included Arcanite, Daemonic and Mortal Tzeentchian allegiance abilities.

The only thing it didn’t included where the Slaves to Darkness warscrolls (except for Chaos Spawns).

        • EnTyme

Since Karru was asking about what units (warscrolls) are in the tome, I told him only Daemons and Arcanites. Could you try being a little less confrontational?

          • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

No, because you are the one confrontative here.

To say that you are wrong is not the same as downright attack you.

    • Randy Randalman

Bog standard Chaos Warriors, Knights, Chariots, and Marauders are a part of “Slaves to Darkness.” That said, they can all take marks and gain the benefits/buffs of being played with the cult-specific armies.

    • Bakvrad

Only all daemons, that are tzeentch only plus all new units from silver tower, the new brays, and the updated tzeentch heroes (Magister, champ on disc and curseling)
BUT all rules apply to every modell with the tzeentch tag (including warriors, daemons and archaon himself)

      • Karru

How about Magic items and such within the book? Can a Lord with the right Mark take them or are they only for models that are part of the book? Is it enough to have the god-specific keyword? These are the thing that interest me the most since they would allow me to at least partially fix the biggest problem I have with the game which is customisability.

        • Frank Krifka

They have demon specific items, magic and command abilities, and mortal specific items, magic and command abilities. So a lord of chaos with the right mark can take mortal specific items.

Likewise they’ve ruled that if battalions all have units with the same keyword, the battalion gains that keywords as well. So all the battalions from slaves to darkness apply if you want to take a Tzeentch themed list of all mortals.

      • Orodruin

        That’s good to know!

  • Lord Elpus

    Oh for Nurgle!

    • Krizzab

you dont only sucks you also stinks… like me.

I want badly a new nurgle battletome with fat, rotting, and lovely smiling guys.

      • Lord Elpus

I’m wading my way through my mono nurgle daemon army at the moment. A tome like this would be great!

Blessed are the Nurglings, for they shall inherit.

        • ragelion

Well it’s clear what they are going for when designing chaos for AOS. All the mortal and daemons will be together in one book. Can’t wait for the nurgle and slaanesh one.

          • Krizzab

            slaasnesh + nurgle = Emetophilia..

          • Sz

Didn’t know what that word meant. Looked it up. They even provided me a picture.

            Thanks :

        • Rob Oliphant

now would they fold clan pestilens into a nurgle battletome…?

          • ragelion

Hmmm, yes I think they would since pestilens have the nurgle keyword. Just give them their own lore, artifact and command table and you would be good to go. Just like the tzeentch and upcoming khorne tome.

Daemons, Pestilens, Mortals and slaves is a well rounded book IMO.

          • dave long island

Wow, that would be a great book!

          • Lord Elpus

Not sure, I’m leaning toward no, as I think they’ll keep them separately Skaven, but I’m more than likely wrong.

  • Randy Randalman

This is a great idea, as Disciples of Tzeentch is such a well designed book. Lots of different ways to play mortals, demons, or a mix of the two. Plus, you can still ally in the traditional Warriors, if that’s your thing. It’s one of the best battletomes with regards to combining fluffy and competitive. Stormcasts got their update, so it’s good to see GW going back and updating all of the pre-General’s Handbook armies.

    • Malisteen

If you ally in traditional warriors, you lose most of the benefits of playing disciples of tzeentch stuff anyway. If fact, iirc, you lose everything in the book that doesn’t already come free on the website or app, so if you plan on mixing in regular tzeentch warriors, then you might as well skip the book altogether.

Or do I have that wrong?

      • Bakvrad

        Mostly wrong
If you stick to chaos+tzeentch you get all bonuses

      • ReverendTiberiusJackhammer

Everything I’ve seen in reference to the Destiny Dice ability specifies it applies to armies with the “Tzeentch” allegiance, which would include warriors etc. Some of the artifacts/lore specifications specifically call out that they work for Arcanite /or/ Mortal characters.

        • Malisteen

far better than I thought, then. Thank you for the correction.

          • ReverendTiberiusJackhammer

No problem! It’s a pleasant surprise compared to a lot of Games-workshop rules-writing, normally it’s more along the lines of sometimes awkward relationship between Khorne Daemonkin and Khorne units in the main Chaos Marine ‘dex.

Even the legacy/compendium units can get in on the fun – the discontinued Wood Elf Treekin can fit in pretty well with forces from the Sylvaneth Battletome, for instance.

      • EnTyme

In fact, DoT made using a Daemon Prince with a Mark of Tzeentch not only viable, but downright brutal.

        • ledha

DoT with archaon is funny as hell.

          • EnTyme

“Gee, that’s a nice Mournghoul you have there. And it cost you how many points? Well would you look at that! I have these two 6s sitting in my Destiny pool. Wouldn’t it be funny if I were to use them on the to-wound roll for Slayer of Kings and delete 20% of your list in one turn?”

      • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

Quite wrong (see the rest of the replies here).

  • Jared Swenson

Now that settles the argument that these new duardin never take off their armor. They do, just not outside of their ships and sky fortresses. It makes sense, because when you live in high altitudes among gasses that could be considered poisonous, you would need some sort of sealed environmental suit. Since beards are so important in duardin society, rather than merely hide them, they make metal beards to reflect their individual personalities. I think it’s a really cool and refreshing concept for dwarfs.

    • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

Not only that, Chamon is full metal. Literally. Almost every single thing here is some kind of metal, from a silver-mercury sea to a sky that is bassically a permanent sandstorm, filled with metal compounds.

  • Christie Bryden

was about to complain about this, but then noticed no new modles and that it was just a update, which means maybe MAYBE we will get that treatment (with new modles) for ironjaws.

  • Well, I can say FINALLY…Now you can field Daemons with the Bloodbound…Though I did hope for maybe a few new units and characters…MAYBE a new Khorne monster?

    • Well, that wouldn’t really fit with the No New Models line

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

Khorne has so many characters already, and monsters. Their roster is really deep relative to other armies/gods.

  • Chris Norvall

This is the news I was waiting for as the Khorne Bloodbound book was overpriced imho at £35. I reckon we will see a Nurgle book by the end of the year, so fret not fellow Nurgle fans.

  • dave long island

The guy on the cover needs to put some pants on, for Pete’s sake. He’s a demon of Khorne, not Slaanesh… lol

    • Honest Kairos

Well, the Skull Throne demanded Skulls and this poor guy was all out of skulls. He did the best he could, donated his pants.

      • dave long island

        Lol 🙂

  • John Barber

I wonder/hope they’ll update the rules for the Bloodthirster; especially the Insensate Rage since imo it’s considerably less awesome than the other flavours. Skarbrand’s pretty damn meaty though, I don’t think he needs an update personally.

  • Honest Kairos

So, I’ve never played AoS, (used to play a lot of Fantasy way back when) and I’ll admit I’m considering it, but here’s my question; Are Chaos Daemons similar to their 40k counterparts in terms of gameplay?

    • ALittleGreeky

I find Daemons to have a somewhat similar play style. But I prefer them in AoS over 40k due to how much more lethal they all are in AoS as opposed to 40k.

      • Honest Kairos

That might have just convinced me to finally jump into AoS. I can at least see my daemons get extremely lethal when I take breaks from 40k.

    • Angry Panda

They’re not even close; AoS Daemons are much different then their 40k counterparts, with a lot less randomness. Although you still have stronger then average psykers. There is no warp charge generation.

      • Honest Kairos

        Ah, cool, thank you!

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

I prefer Daemons in AoS to those in 40k.

Way less random and the big models are more survivable.

      • Honest Kairos

You know, in a way, the randomness of Daemons in 40k kinda has its own appeal. Is it “effective?” Maybe! And….Maybe not. But at least it adds a little flavor to the game while you get slaughtered by Eldar.

  • Xodis

Its good to see, but Im still waiting out for Tzeentch’s big reveal.

  • SacTownBrian

Death players everywhere shed a tear…

    • Don’t worry…Hopefully Soulblight or Deathrattle will follow

      • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

Not really, if they are updating pre-Sylvaneth armies, Seraphon, Everchosen and FEC should follow.

        • Updating Flesh-Eater Courts would be fine…And I don’t think Everchosen need their own Codex…put Archaon and his Varanguard with the Slaves of Darkness

          • Cristhian Mario Landa Rivera

That’d be a better option for Everchosen.

  • Alexis Thouin Bourdeau

No new models ? Well FU.

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

Besides Stormcast, Khorne has the deepest range of models already.

  • Mike Tbone Green

oh boy, more Khorne stuff, cant wait, yaaaaaaa. so excited. NOT

  • Nyyppä

Oh come on. Make death playable first and then go for things like this….
