Legio Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought £56

In those isolated cases where the body has been all but irrevocably destroyed but the Custodian’s mind remains intact and their will to survive undimmed, internment within the cold and unyielding body of a Dreadnought is the next step. To this purpose, the few Dreadnoughts of the Legio Custodes are as singularly advanced as their other wargear, outfitted with weapons and systems artificer-made by the servants of the Imperial Court. At the time of the outbreak of the Horus Heresy, the most widely employed was the Contemptor-Achillus, a general battle unit which combined phenomenal strength and speed with the echoes of the interned Custodes’ own unmatched martial skill.

A fearsomely-beweaponed example of Dreadnought technology, this model is bristling with both impressive detail and offensive capability. It’s exceptionally posable, featuring options for open and closed hands – meaning the included Dreadspear can be modelled in a single-hand or two-hand grip, with shoulder ball joints and elbow joints for almost infinite poses. There are also different foot options, meaning the model’s weight can be placed on either.

Not content with just the Dreadspear, this Dreadnought also features a choice of two wrist-mounted storm bolters, Infernus incinerators or Adrathic destructors. The sweeping lines and large surfaces of the armour are broken by detailed Imperial iconography – this model will yield fantastic results for the painter, whether dedicated to picking out details or using shades and drybrushing to bring them out.

Rules for this model can be found in The Horus Heresy Book 7 – Inferno

This multi-part resin kit comes as 46 components, and is supplied with a 60mm round base.

The Custodes get all the coolest toys…

  • orionburn

So he’s really just a big Xenos kabob maker?

    • nurglitch

      More like Xenos Blend-o-matic.

  • SilentPony

He still looks terrible HOLDING a weapon.

    • orionburn

I like the one with sword & shield. The spear might look better if it were being held by both hands. When it’s in a single hand it looks imbalanced.

  • euansmith

If only FW brought out AoS Warscrolls for these bad boys. They’d look great surrounded by a Stormcast Army.

    • Kritarion

Give the aquilas beards and they are the new Duardin Automatons

  • Andersp90 .

God they look cool! They will make great GK dreadknights.

  • Talos2

WEirdly posed so to make the legs look a little ridiculous, but on a highly poseable model that isn’t an issue really. Superb paint job. It’s rules in combat are remarkably like the 40k guilleman, totally insane

  • aargh00

So they sort of span the designs between Condemnors and Dreadknights. Nice that they finally found a way to tie the Dreadknight design into the other Imperial dreadnought designs.

  • Matthew Pomeroy

slowly it takes shape, the stormcast eternals are the custodes, and are just waiting for Age of Emperor to reveal themselves!

  • jmaximum

    holy crap that’s beautiful!
