I’m HOOKED! Circle of Orboros’ Loki

Circle has a new character warbeast with a big chain and a bad attitude. Check LOKI out.

Who is LOKI?

Loki is the new warpwolf character beast for Circle. It it more defensive in nature then the other wolves in the circle stable. It also has a unique ranged attack that Circle has not had access to before in Drag. He comes in at hefty 19 point so is a big investment for his utility.

What Does Loki Do?

Loki is a weird warpwolf to say the least with only 2 base attacks. Loki is sporting a great statline with that base 14 defense and combined with his shield he is sitting at ARM19. This is one of the best stat lines beast wise in Circle. On the offensive side of things he has a RNG8 POW15/17 hook. It is a thrown weapon so it can go up depending on buffs. His shield and bite are only POW14 meaning he is probably topping out at POW18 after warps/buffs. That means he isn’t killing to many high ARM heavies.

He is pretty standard with the fury 4 department but, he starts becoming more unique once you get to the back of his card.

Animus: Dodge, just like the griffons he can move away if you miss him.
Bond Tanith: Prowl, nothing suprising from a warpwolf.
Controlled Warping

  • Hunter: Hard to hide from his ranged attack
  • Preternatural reflexes: No easy hits
  • Warp Strength: Standard warpwolf shenanigans

Regen: Standard Circle shenanigans
Shield Guard: No longer a wold/bokur only option. This makes Loki very enticing to take.

You Can’t Get Away!!!

For real though DRAG is the main reason to take this beast. Especially in a faction that has the tools to delete models that are out of position. With Shifting Stones this model has a 16″ threat on drags. It will be incredibly hard to defend against the angles that Loki can get to with standard Circle shenanigans. Throw in dirty spells like Dopplebark and Gallows to get the poor target even worst spots lining up for annihilation.
Drag assassinations are going to be a thing if you don’t have a shield guard or 2 to stop it. Consider Moshar, Wurmwood, and Kaya2 can easily get within Dopplebark range your caster is probably going to be a measly defense and prime Loki prey.

Loki List:

Krueger 2 is all about shenanigans. He can move enemy models around in weird ways with his feat, telekinesis , and gallows. What better beast to accompany the cloud master then Loki?
This list is all about pulling heavies into certain doom and putting pressure on scenarios.

Circle Army – 75 / 75 points

(Krueger 2) Krueger the Stormlord [+27]
– Loki [19]
– Feral Warpwolf [18]
– Storm Raptor [38]
– Druid Wilder [4]
Shifting Stones [3]
Shifting Stones [3]
Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5]
Sentry Stone & Mannikins [5]
Blackclad Wayfarer [4]
Gallows Grove [2]
Swamp Gobber Chef [1]

Revenant’s Final Thought:

Loki is a great addition to the Circle stable and brings some unique abilities.

B+ just because he is a very pricey investment at 19 points.

Hmm in comparison to those ugly models a few days ago this is actually much better.. hard to believe it’s from the same company. It’s not GW quality yet.. but not far off. Somehow PP topics never mention prices so it’s hard to say how I’d rate it in price/quality.

    • ZeeLobby

$50 in US. Seems expensive… but I love the model.

      • Red_Five_Standing_By

Yeah PP cannot claim the moral high ground with prices any more, lol

      • Aezeal

That is actually more expensive than a lot of gw stuff… can’t justify that.

        • Hawt Dawg

          It grinds the GW haters…

Circle models are amongst the sweetest in Hordes and this pup is no different. He also need to face Lola. Hard!

          • Aezeal

GW is actually not very good with furry monsters I think. Scaly they beat anyone but the fur on those new orc boar riders under the chin is not nice (this guys fur under the chin is somewhat odd.. but much better than the beard on the boarthings.)

          • ZeeLobby

Yeah. PP for the most part does fur pretty well. That said, still too expensive, haha.

        • ZeeLobby

Yeah. Def not a fan of the price. I mean it’s basically be $45 with the 10% off, but still…

          • Aezeal

You can get like 3 x 50 mm base Kurnoth hunter for that price right? Not as massive obviously… but still.

    • Red_Five_Standing_By

The awesome legion models shown a week ago? Those things were great.

      This guys is even better.

      • Aezeal

Those where incredibly ugly. This one is much better…
Sadly I must say with the new duardin gw raised the bar further.

        • Hawt Dawg

I only play Warmahordes atm, but when it comes to models, I have yet to find anyone beating GW in that area.

    • DeadlyYellow

Yeah, they’re kinda lackluster against the recent wave of Tzeentch and Stormcast. Models require a ton more prep than GW plastics too.

Prices have slowly crept up, but are still pretty contemporary on a per model basis. They clamped down hard on websellers, so you generally don’t find things at steep discounts anymore.

  • Jared van Kell

If Privateer keep going the way they are going they will become a credible threat to GW’s dominance in a few years.

  • Drew

This guy is top-shelf for Circle. He’s easily going to find his way into a number of my lists, and not just with Tanith. Circle was already the faction of max threat range alpha strikes; adding Drag to that picture just makes them even better at something they already do very, very well.

    • marxlives

Have not faced him on the table top yet but Circle players are totally in love with Loki.

    • Hawt Dawg

There is cheese in your beard… čśë
