    ARG TEMPLATES

  • Rainthezangoose

So Shadow is a limited run and already sold out…Seriously GW.

    • Heinz Fiction

Must be GW’s take on an april fool’s joke: “We made the greatest game since Necromunda but only 1000 copies of it.”

      • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

its really dumb. How come they are so poor at predicting demand? I would have liked a copy. *sad face*

        • Heinz Fiction

          Market research is heresy!

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

now my WD will arrive full of pictures and hype for a game I can’t get! Grrrrrrrrrr!

        • same here. I’m angrier than angron right now.

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

            Wow that is angry!

    • Mr_Pickles

Does Limited Run mean only one printing, or two, or three?

      • Karru

No it means limited. It’s never coming back, just like Space Hulk. Once it is gone, it’s gone for good.
        .
        .
        .
        .
        Just like Space Hulk.

        • Boondox

Which version of Space Hulk? lol.

          • Karru

You know, the limited one! The one that was gone once it was gone!

          • EnTyme

Or was it more like the second one the was gone after it was gone?

    • Xodis

Rules will be available online, and terrain available separately…..not a giant loss.

      • Chet Atkinson

This is true. The only negative is the lack of counters and templates. I’m not worried about missing the old sprues of Marines and Orks

        • Xodis

Wouldn’t surprise me if the rules had a physical version that included the counters…and maybe templates but I dont think too many people need those anymore.

      • Thomas

And it’ll probably cost a ton more than just getting it all in one convenient box. It’s just insanely dumb for a company to be this bad at predicting demand. Either that or they’re going down the Nintendo route of creating artificial demand through self-imposed scarcity.

        Either way: dumb.

        • Xodis

I disagree completely. First, you have no idea how many were actually made, so there could have been a LOT and it still sold faster than expected. Secondly, GW has done a lot better with their pricing lately so it could very well be a better deal for those who do not want Orcs and more Scouts.

Also, the Nintendo route of creating artificial demand is business genius 101. It draws your customers in and makes them more willing to pay full retail since the scalpers will be adding a minimum of 30% on the initial cost. It also helps justify making more at a later date that fans will no doubt jump on the opportunity. For example, we see “Limited” on the SWA box currently….so what happens when GW releases another “Limited” release? It sells like hot cakes and they continue to sell 100% of their stock.

          • Thomas

“Also, the Nintendo route of creating artificial demand is business genius 101.”

            HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

          • Xodis

Yeah I thought it was funny too…until I saw their net-worth of 21.7 billion dollars and that is after the WiiU was a flop.

          • Thomas

            AHAHAHAHA

            STOP, YOU’RE KILLING ME.

          • Xodis

Its ok higher business practices are hard to understand for some.

    • Kinsman

I was excited for this. Missed the preorders so watched the Miniwargameing batrep. I think I’m passing. Infinity and Kill Teams are both better. That shiz looks way bloated. Wow.

  • Bluewater1976

Armageddon already sold out in UK and Germany

    • Iconoc1ast

This is most disappointing. Two steps back.

This 1000 copies stuff has triggered me.

  • Seb

Had to re-read that – it wasn’t first batch, that was it. Blink blink..

I can’t quite believe that, surely the Rulebook will be available soon at least ?

Talk about the appropriate launch day.

    • Tigirus

I god damn hope so. I have no intent to buy a box set of models and terrain I won’t use just for a book. If they don’t at least release it as a digital run I’m going to have to get a plane ticket to the UK just to slap everyone at GW.

      • Aezeal

Why would you not use the terrain?

        • Heinz Fiction

The terrain doesn’t seem that great actually. It’s basically one elevated platform with two ladders. There are other similar styled terrain pieces available wich are better suited for play in my opinion.

          • Aezeal

It seems nice for what it is.. it’s not that much.. but it’s a start.

        • Tigirus

I lack any place to play at home so I do all my gaming at stores with their terrain. It’s cool and all to own but i’d never actually use it.

          • Aezeal

Haha.. I know the feeling.. I got a skullvane manse, dreadstone blight, garden of morr, some ruined temple, chapel, tower, fortified mansion, FW well .. and a few other things.. and I also play in the shop. I recently got most of it and only painted a few pieces.. I might actually bring some of my stuff to the shop to play.. will take me HUGE boxes and bags to move it ofc.

          • euansmith

            Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

      • Punkindrublic

There will be at least a digital version of the rules avaliable “soon”, according to GW.

    • Bluewater1976

There is a downolad link in the store

      • Dylan Pettersson

That’s only for the extra factions, not the core rules

    • Xodis

Rulebook will be available online for free and terrain available separately.

  • David Clift

Wouldn’t mind this as like the terrain.
As for the rules they seem very similar to Necromunda and second edition 40k.

  • DrWilhelm

I don’t know whether to laugh, or repeatedly smack my head against a table. This release seems to be spectularly ill planned.

  • Ruinous Potato

I wasn’t fast enough to spend my money! My wallet apreciates this , GW!

  • euansmith

Maybe GW make their annual bonus payments in boxed games.

“Here you go, drones, three boxes of Armageddon each. We’ll mark it as sold out for a fortnight and you can sell these on eBay for whatever you can get.”

    • Chet Atkinson

I have strong suspicions that some of the sellers on ebay are actually GW

  • bfmusashi

Whoa whoa whoa, I thought we were finally getting a gateway drug into the 40k universe and it’s a one off? Do they mean just the box is limited? ’cause I’d be fine with that but put out and update the books!

  • darkconsecrator

This was suppose to be my birthday present and it’s sold out?
    *sigh*

    • Seb

      Ahh sorry to hear it..

Happy Birthday all the same man, imagine a few surprises from friends and family should gloss over this frustration 🙂

      • darkconsecrator

        Cheers!

    • euansmith

I’m sure it will be re-released. I doubt they are going to spend so much to produce this game, not to then milk it for everything that they can.

I can’t help but think that GW could adopt the kickstarter model or getting people to pre-order a product before it goes in to production to gauge how popular the launch is going to be and manufacture accordingly.

  • Oggthrok

Has it actually rolled out on the US site? All I see are ads for the blood bowl troll…

    • JPMcMillen

      Not yet… soon….

  • Shinnentai

This was sold out on he UK store within 20 minutes of the pre-order going up. Are GW still haunted by the Dreadfleet debacle, or did their supply chain have a problem?

Also, I guess the pre-orders for the individual terrain boxes have been pushed back? WD said they’d be up today too?

  • hashshashin

sold out in the US webstore now as well…

well that was interesting. Good thing you don’t really need anything in the box to play (I already have scatter and artillery dice) besides the rules which I am guessing can be gotten electronically at some point…

  • Douglas Burton

GW is going to print more of these. Everyone is buying into the hype that it was “limited” thinking it will never be available again. No company is going to tool up that many molds only to sell a print run of a few thousand and never offer it again. No company is going to miss out on a huge opportunity to introduce so many people into a declining hobby by limiting their stock. They didnt mis predict demand, they anticipate this. They’re building massive hype for something so people are drooling to get it. Look at Nintendo with their Classic. The system sells out immediately when it does get restocked. Hype. And look at it this way, if they really are that stupid, move on to another company and gaming system.

    • hashshashin

I am not sure your thinking is totally accurate on this… They can sell the terrain pieces at a greater cost then how much the box is worth, and those are the only molds they created for the game. Pouring red plastic into the template molds that have been bumping around since 3rd ed isn’t very tough me dont thinks. The only thing else you need is a couple dice (which most folks who’ve been in this hobby for awhile probably already have) and then they can sell the eBook of the rules. So basically by creating hype and selling out they are almost positioning themselves to rake in more by selling the pieces as separate components that will end up costing more

      • Douglas Burton

GW honestly may be as stupid as that, you really never know. However, since it was shown at GAMA, I doubt that this thing is already done and gone. This isn’t a product that is aimed at already established players, which is what traditionally limited would imply. Its meant to draw in new players, hence the reason it was shown at GAMA. To otherwise go to the expense of showing up at GAMA and showcasing a new game that only already established players would know about and that would be sold out within an hour of going on sale would be ludicrous.

Its a feeder game, something GW has been needing for quite a while. You sell newcomers this game and say, oh and by the way, you can also buy other troops and eventually expand out into a full blown army to play our other game system (pointing to WH40K0. I think the term limited as it implies to this game is we have limited stock RIGHT NOW but more will be available in the future as we produce more. Othe

  • Wolf-Assassin

seriously the worst april first joke, i was on the swedish/european part of the store 15 minutes after the preorder release and it was already sold out. how fast was it sold out in the us store and the asian store? did anyone get a copy? warhammer-comunity now has an article that first says sold out and then in the end Pre-order yours now – available while stocks last:

    • Chet Atkinson

I had no idea that it was a limited run otherwise I would have been online sooner. It’s a farce. I see several copies are already on ebay. I did consider purchasing every copy on there then refusing to pay

      • Iconoc1ast

        Genius! Frustrate the scalpers!!!

    • Shinnentai

Pretty sure it was sold out fast everywhere – don’t worry this is a misjudgement by GW on a global scale XD.

  • Scott Friedmeyer

Was at my local GW store at 12:05 CST and was sold out before it was available. The item did not show up on the web page till 12:05. Only conclusion I have is it was on available on the east cost for an entire hour before any other time zone in the US or Canada. Lets just say I call BSX2. First it being so limited!

  • Kinsman

Excited for that Khorne book! Hoping we get some fun stuff. Cards look neat, too.
